So the g/f went to the game with her parents and sister last night. She calls me up after the game and asks who won?!?!? I'm like WTF didn't you go???? Well her dad wanted to leave with 5mins left in the game to beat the rush.........Are you fucking kidding me???? that much action in the last 5 minutes and with the Canucks winning how the hell could you leave early. Her dad's a fucken dumbass!!!!!!!

kinda related on that topic
for the longest time me and some buddies watched games at a friends house where his dad just recently found the invention of the PVR.. so needless to say, if somone needed to go to the bathroom, or people wanted to step out to have a smoke/joint we would pause the game
I fucking HATE watching taped sporting events
so needless to say, there were times where i would accidently look at my phone, or somone would text me the score before the game we were watching had ended and ruin it for me
So with this always on my mind, I went to a game that went to a shootout, had probably a couple too many beers during the time there and by time where they had to come out and clean the ice for the shootout, i looked down at my phone and a guy we usually watched the games with txt me somthing along the lines of
"Devistating" or somthing like that
in my head I was like ahhhh FUCK are you kidding me? fucking buddy ruins the game for me again?
then i was like hmm.. wait a second.. i'm at the game!
lol

I don't get why people leave games early either....unless they're those yuppies in the lower bowl that go to talk about work and their new toys.
I also have a couple of friends that insist on PVR'ing games. Totally annoying when we get over to their house to play poker or something and have to watch the whole thing over again. Live or nothing, I say. Only reason to PVR them is if you see a wicked play/hit fight - hit the record button and watch it a few times over on the break.

I will leave a game early if it's a blow-out and I took the skytrain to get downtown, with that said though its like at the 1 minute mark of the 3rd just to get a jump on the exiting crowd
if i drove however i'll never leave early
been to enough games to know i'm sick of the crowds and especially transit crowds post-game

There's a couple that sits 2 rows down from the seats i always get, older asian couple
the Husband seems to be into it, they both wear jerseys and he seems to watch the game intently throughout
the Wife, for the last 5 games i've been to spends the entire game knitting...

It drives me nuts when I go over to his place to watch a game, and he's like "Lets do this right now we'll watch the game later with no commercials" and I'm like "I want to watch the game NOW, LIVE, as in HAPPENING RIGHT NOW, like every other normal person".
I hate watching PVR'd games, I don't cheer or get into it because in the back of my head I know it happened hours ago.
