Really like the pickups. Added some depth forwards. Lapierre fr the 4th line and Higgens when healthy can be moved around between 2nd and 3rd depending on the need.

Assuming those moves, the #nhl #canucks come in something like $950 under their daily upper limit.
| Wow, thats tight. That's $950 not $950k, thats with Hodgson and Oreo sent down.

some shrewd moves by MG, I like them, both signings put pressure on tambellin who would basically be expendable a month down the road if these players work out
good depth and added grit, now just need all the D to come back and we should be rolling

we need big body presence to slow down the opposing team
Higgins maybe 2nd or 3rd line
but hes pretty soft

Someone posted this on the Canucks.com forum. I wouldn't read much into it but makes you wonder if things like this are taken into account at all when trading. Quote:
MacGregor Sharp
History
Teamed with teammate Mason Raymond to form one of the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s most dangerous one-two punches. Sharp tallied 46 points in 40 games, including 20 goals. If he had played the entire season, he likely would have rivaled Raymond’s point totals.

THE CANADIAN PRESS
VANCOUVER -- The Vancouver Canucks acquired centres Maxim Lapierre and MacGregor Sharp in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks on Monday.
In return, the Ducks got centre Joel Perrault and a third-round pick in the 2102 NHL entry draft.
Lapierre, 25, has split this season between Montreal and Anaheim. He has 11 points (five goals, six assists) in 59 games. Lapierre has 83 points (40-43) in 314 career NHL games.
Sharp, 25, has 13 points (6-7) in 50 games this season with AHL Syracuse.
Perrault did not record a point in seven games with the Canucks. He has 18 points (3-15) in 26 games with AHL Manitoba.

Lapierre has played center before and will center the 4th line. He's 53% this year taking limited faceoffs for Anaheim, and is a bit under 50% for his seasons in Montreal(where he took a lot more draws). I'm worried about him taking dumb penalties, but AV has coached him before so hopefully he will be kept in check. I do like the agitating characteristic he brings, essentially what Burrows/Kesler used to be before becoming offensive players.
Higgins getting 23 points without any PP time is impressive. Raymond has 25 ES points in comparison, and is an option to be replaced if he is slumping. The knock on him is his laziness, so he could quickly become the new whipping boy if he doesn't work harder with us.

Lapierre was a pretty decent PK guy last year for philly. He missed the last month of the season due to a broken wrist or arm from blocking a shot, but came back for their run. He reminds me of a Ryan Johnson type who will block anything that comes his way, except grittier.

Lu and Lapierre are both from Saint Leonard in Montreal. Lapierre was awesome during last years playoff run with the Habs.
