I had wondered why the goalie wasn't penalized as he had played with it for a number of minutes in plain view of the officials but I guess it's not against the rules. If broken sticks are a safety hazard then I would think a goalie's use of one would be even more so with players converging and crashing the net.

10.3 Broken Stick – Player - A broken stick is one which, in the opinion of the Referee, is unfit for normal play.

A player without a stick may participate in the game. A player whose stick is broken may participate in the game provided he drops the broken stick. A minor penalty shall be imposed for an infraction of this rule.
i would think that the refs should have called a penalty on the goalie. unless a goalie isn't considered a "player"...

well I managed to find the rule on broken sticks for goalies

Quote:

10.4 Broken Stick – Goalkeeper - A goalkeeper may continue to play with a broken stick until a stoppage of play or until he has one legally handed to him by a teammate.
I`m not sure why they would allow that though

huh. weird. i suppose they think that the goalie should have as much chance as possible to stop the puck from crossing the line, even if it is with broken equipment. interesting.

Brashear fighting (punching a goalie) at a game in Quebec

fliptuner 03-02-2011 07:40 PM

Fuck, that fan is annoying. And what does he expect, the two guys were fighting and the goalie decides to slash - of course he's going to get it.

scottsman 03-02-2011 08:01 PM

haha brashear is awesome. kicked the shit out of those guys.

Mercy 03-02-2011 08:58 PM

LOL :lol
was Brashear mocking that fan? haha
That fan's so annoying.

Brashear did the right thing. That goalie took a really dangerous slash since the back of the leg has very little protection and he did a two-hander. A bit more and you might have Ohlund on Mikko Koivu-type damage. I bet it's real easy to make a dirty play when you have 100 pounds of armor protecting you from 100MPH pucks.

did that during the Olympics lol

saucywoman 03-03-2011 12:04 PM

The kamloops blazers and the indian band brought it in. Got to watch the hockey game from a suite, have the cup come to our suite for the last 15 mins of the 3rd period and then went to an afterparty at Earls where the cup went too so I got more pics with it, all for free :)

Not sure if I would have the balls to pick up the Stanley Cup... I think that should be reserved for those who actually win it!

shawn79 03-03-2011 01:10 PM

saucywoman 03-03-2011 01:13 PM

Gumby the only rule we were given is that we weren't allowed to pick it up, only touch.. It was still pretty cool to experience :)

No no, I mean I would touch it for sure, if given the chance. But not pick it up, even if allowed to.

invader 03-03-2011 01:38 PM

Go to NHL.com

The Green men made it to the site!
