Dan Hanhuis must be a shy guy. He scores a OT game winner and he barely even celebrates. His face prob turned red knowing he played the hero tonight.

I guess they can curve the glass or angle it. Bottom of body is kept in line with boards and glass is introduced gradually in line with the boards later on. At least you won't go head on with an object that isn't gonna move.

Did you guys see the Rick Rypien interview? He's looking good. Can't wait to see him back in the lineup.

our bottom 6 looks stacked with rypien, lappierre, higgins, tambellini.... but can they play hockey when it matters?

I didn't even noticed that was Rypien after they showed his name. I was like "really that's Rypien?" Looks funky with his beard.

Holy balls, that Chara hit looked brutal. If he didn't know that turnbuckle was there...

Expresso 03-09-2011 07:54 AM

Looks like Bettman is finally giving up on PHX. Let's go GOLDWATER!

Was there any drama going on?
I heard maybe some sort of retaliation... but I don't really follow Boston or Montreal.

Mizter 03-09-2011 08:57 AM

^It had something to do with an OT goal that Pacioretty scored sometime back.

The picture looks pretty bad. Look at where Chara's hands are. To me it looks like the intent to injure was there.

Yep, from this game earlier in the year

Quote:

"Basically we were racing for the puck and battling for position. As the puck went by, I was riding him out," said Chara.

(It's) very unfortunate that at the same time I pushed him a little bit, he kind of leaned and jumped a little bit, and just hit the glass extension. It's very unfortunate.

I knew we were somewhere close to our bench, but obviously that wasn't my intention, to push him into the post. It's very unfortunate, in that situation, everything's happening fast. I wasn't planning to do that. That's not my style to (try to) hurt somebody. I always play hard, play physical, but I never try to hurt anybody. I hope he's okay.
Not sure if there's really bad blood between them, but SERIOUSLY???

So Pacioretty suffered a severe concussion and non-displaced fracture of 4th cervical verterbrae. Looks like he'll be out close to a year and who knows if he ever returns or how he'll be after. Erik Cole hasn't really been the same since his fractured verterbrae.

wouldn't retired canadians rather stay in Canada due to health care and etc.?

If you were retired, would you want to stay in Canada where the air is cold and dry and you have to shovel your driveway of all that snow?
Don't just think of Vancouver, but every other province in Canada.

All you need to do is be in Cananda for half the year and you can collect your CPP and old age pension. Rest of the time, you can be in sunny FLorida, Arizona, or California hence why Bettman thought it would be a great idea to have NHL hockey teams in these locations.

And you can buy travel insurance in CAnada, and then live 5-6 months in the US and be covered for health care.

Sad thing about all of this is that Chara will get nothing but a slap on the wrist because of his star status.

NO SUSPENSION OR FINE FOR CHARA'S HIT ON PACIORETTY

Bruins defenceman Zdeno Chara will not face further discipline for his hit on Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty on Tuesday night, the National Hockey League announced Wednesday afternoon.

"I conducted a hearing with Boston Bruins' defenceman Zdeno Chara with respect to the major penalty for interference and game misconduct that he was assessed at 19:44 of the second period for a hit on Max Pacioretty of the Montreal Canadiens," NHL vice-president of hockey operations said in a statement.

Yup, you're correct, NHL just announced no suspension or fine for Chara.

411ken 03-09-2011 11:51 AM

I wonder what he would have gotten if say he hit Crosby or Ovy like that...

either way.. this is a joke... not even a fine... unbelievable

Bouncing Bettys 03-09-2011 11:53 AM

Chara gets no further punishment. To me, it looks pretty obvious he knew what he was doing and he knew where he was and thus where the turnbuckle was. He's been playing hockey for how long and he claims he didn't anticipate such a collision? Factor in the history between the 2 players, the domination by the habs in that game, and the late timing of the incident and it seems he was even motivated by anger.
