Yep.

Tim Budong 03-09-2011 04:40 PM

There really isn't much intent. It looked worst than it should for Chara being the giant he is, but they cannot fault him for his size. he's 6'9 on foot, maybe 6'11 to 7ft on skates. MaxPac, probably is starting to stride, is in "stance" for his actions. knees bent, hands on stick. and maxpac being 6'2 on foot. Chara just TOWERED over him

dignatas 03-09-2011 04:42 PM

that check was really late. karma would hit the bruins this year. You will see...

wow just noticed it was 15 seconds left of the period too. Even more late!

Noir 03-09-2011 04:43 PM

Why not draw a box around the benches and penalty boxes and make that a no hit zone? That's how stupid knee-jerk opinions sounds.

when daniel sedin scores in OT goal in boston 1on1 against chara :fullofwin:

trancehead 03-09-2011 07:40 PM

LOL people here are talking about how a player must be responsible for knowing his exact surroundings? newsflash, look at how fast the game moves. and the players are MOVING as well not stagnant ragdolls. Everything and anything changes in an instant.

Yes it was unfortunate, but given the stature of chara vs max, his head was right there. Just ask Sir Isaac Pronger

Agreed, but on the last day getting bounced by someone like EDM who needs to lose in order for them to finish 8th. That would be epic on so many levels and well....it would make me laugh.

lol 03-09-2011 09:39 PM

lol ya that would be dope.

If you guys play hockey you will know that Chara is fully aware of what he did and the position they were in on the ice. He probably didn't want him to be that injured but the intent to move him into the turn buckle was obviously there. That play wasn't even necessary.

justYU 03-09-2011 10:16 PM

^ agreed

Chara intentionally tried to hit him against the turn buckle. His head was up and knew that the turn buckle was coming.

taker 03-10-2011 04:38 AM

These guys have played hockey all their life. They know their way around a rink, intent was definitely there. NHL fail.

MG1 03-10-2011 05:36 AM

Not all rinks are the same, plus none of us can play with the speed and intensity that these guys play with. Then there are the other factors such as the crowd, the emotion, the fatigue factor, etc. Anyway, we can argue this till the cows come home. What's done is done.

Greenstoner 03-10-2011 05:57 AM

shark tank tonight !!!!!!

Hondaracer 03-10-2011 06:43 AM

"if you played hockey"

Yea becuase playing pickup games at 8 rinks is an NHL equivelent..

It doesn't matter he knows where he is on the ice especially being a D, I played a high level of hockey Jr A and when you are at a rink you have to know every aspect of the arena you are at or else you will either get smoked or you would be less able to break free after a puck.

As well a NHL player blocks out the crowd when they play, they are way to focused on the game and trying to predict what will happen next.

Saying he didn't know is a stright up BS excuse!!!

Why are you wasting time on RS, instead of winning the lotto or something with your amazing psychic powers?

fliptuner 03-10-2011 06:51 AM

I can understand both sides but IMO he still shoud've got a 3 - 5 game suspension for several reasons (regardless of intent and awareness of the rink conditions):

-to solidify the fact that head shots will not be tolerated,
-superstars will not be immune to the rules,
-to send a message to fans, future players and media that the issue is under control by the NHL

Even sponsors are not happy with how it was dealt with:

http://www.thestar.com/news/article/...ia-report?bn=1

If he recieved 5 games it would appease the fans, some players, media and sponsors and there wouldn't be too much debate over it. The lack of a suspension is bad press, especially when Pacioretty is so badly injured and out of the game for up to a year.

Hondaracer 03-10-2011 07:41 AM

Even if he "knew where he was" which is debatable because the stantion is different in every arena, can you honestly say that in that fraction of a second chara made the choice to ram his head into it?

The puck was played into the Boston zone and chara went to go rub him out in the boards, skating at full tilt and catching him at that exact spot was just unlucky IMO if that hit was at all intentional and somone WANTED to ram the opostions head into that pole the timing on that hit would have to be absolutely perfect with the right amount of speed and angle,

Like I said in the previous page: ""If you cause a player to be injured, then you have to be responsible for the play ... if there's any carelessness or recklessness in it." Colin Campbell on Ovechkin's suspension last year"

There's no consistancy with the NHL. It's all a crap shoot on how they suspend players. Can anyone justify Murphy's explanation on Chara's lack of suspension with the same explanation his boss gave about Ovechkin's hit last year?

BlackZRoadster 03-10-2011 08:14 AM

Someone with photoshop skills should do this:

max shoving chara and taunting in one pic from previous game, and the other with max in the partition.
