When the Canucks went up 3-nothing in the first, I already knew they were going to win it. They just looked that good tonight.

Sure, the Wild scored 2 goals but that was because the Canucks were saving their energy and on cruise control at that point.

Wild score twice before the third?

Speaking of wallpapers..

I found the source off Google and edited it a little. Resolution is 1366x768 since it's for my laptop.

Good thing there was no turnbuckle there...... was Clutterfuck a noob who didn't know every inch of the rink? This is a fast game indeed.......

I wAnder what Burrows said to Clutterfuck..................

AV needs to stick up for our damn team!
The face off during the last 40seconds of the game should have been way on the other end of the ice.

If the refs are out to get us, AV needs to do his got damn job and stick up for our boys. We can't have ref's making bullshit calls and AV not do anything about it. Deep into the playoffs something like this will happen and AV won't do shit.

He's a great coach I guess, but he needs to stand up for our damn team.

looking at that, a freak accident could have potentially happened.
I think it might have been Salo? who was looking down, didn't
even see it coming, and Clutterbuck's skate could have cut his face.

i think they were saying clitterfuck just came back from injury (concussion?) and his timing was probably off having just returned recently.

Actually he saw him coming, turned his head and covered it with his hand just in case.

With the injury to Sami Salo(notes) on Monday night, the 41st of his bruised and bumpy NHL career, you can already hear the cynical Vancouver fans saying, “Here we go again.”

The history of fans waiting for the other shoe to drop and ultimately the final shoe is a longstanding tradition in this city, which may actually have some effect on the players despite their claims to the contrary.

But here’s one for the cynics: What if it doesn’t happen? What if there are no disasters? What if this team gets healthy and stays healthy throughout the playoffs? What if instead of having trouble making things happen in the tough going, the stars of this team finally break through all at the same time?

What if the Sedins produce like they’ve never produced in the post season? What if Roberto Luongo(notes) plays the way he did in the 2007 playoff and Ryan Kesler(notes) keeps flying the way he has for most of this season, and Alex Burrows has a good run? And so on and on.

Who is to say this has to turn out badly? You can already tell by the way this team has conducted itself all season that they have something very special in terms of leadership and professionalism. Every time you expect this team to let down and have it all unravel, they blow teams out and go on a run.

For the first time, they appear to have depth at every position. If Alex Edler, Andrew Alberts(notes) and Kevin Bieksa(notes) all get back in time for the playoffs, as expected, the back end is as bulletproof as you could possibly make it. Yes, you can never have enough defencemen and that saying will be said as often as it’s tested in this league. But if they run out of D this year it would be God telling Vancouver: “Thou shalt not win.” And it’s time to believe in a just God.

If you happen to think highly of Cody Hodgson(notes), it’s even imaginable for this team to survive a serious injury to a top-six forward — perhaps even two with Chris Higgins(notes) looking better and better — and still have a very good chance to succeed if everyone plays well and up their capability. If Luongo gets run over by a stray Dustin Byfuglien(notes) type, there is a backup who’s proven more than competent and would come in with absolutely nothing to lose.

This is the 40th year of the franchise and perhaps the hockey gods have decreed that, after 40 years of wandering in the desert, this is enough suffering for one city and the promised land will finally be reached. Why not? And yet, outside of a few people who’ve had one or two too many beers on any given evening, this possibility hasn’t even really been seriously considered. Disaster is too ingrained in the psyche of people in Vancouver when it comes to hockey. They expect everything will turn to bleep and aren’t really happy until it does, and they can proclaim that they told everyone so. But really, when have they had a team this good?

This isn’t to say the Canucks are going to breeze to a Cup because it’s too hard a trophy to win for that to happen. But who is to say it has to end the way it always has? Because in all but three of those years, the Canucks really had no realistic business competing for a Cup. Where fans see a long history of disappointment, in reality, it’s only really been the last two seasons and 1994.

Seriously, in what other year did they have a team good enough to hope for the big prize?

Monday night they won against a playoff contender despite the Wild being handed six straight power-play opportunities as the officials tried to balance the two power-play goals Vancouver scored. That never used to happen to the Canucks, now it’s routine. And they did it with five D after Salo went down.

Perhaps this is a year where the fans can relax, leave the anxiety behind and let these guys worry about it. They’ve certainly handled it so far, better than any group that has ever been assembled in this city, and there’s no particular reason to think they’re going to get lazy, complacent or stupid overnight.

Calgary can still make 103 points, and would beat us in the tiebreaker, so we need 104 to clinch.

Wild could still technically do it if they won all their remaining games and we lost all of ours, as both would then end up with 101 points, and they would again have the tiebreaker.

Actually we only need one more win to clinch the division along with a playoff spot! The win would bring us to 103 pts which is the most Calgary can get but WE hold the tiebreaker as this year it's based on wins NOT including shootout wins. So even if they win all their games in regulation or OT they'll still be 3 wins behind us.

That is correct - I'd mis-counted Calgary's potential ROW (regulation and overtime wins), which is the first tiebreaker - the most they can get to is 39, while we have 41.

So... ONE point will do it.

From Twitter: @VanCanucks

Coach V: Salo day to day. Game time decision tomorrow. Will call up from Moose fore replacement if needed. Bieksa requiring more timing.

@gmacsports
Salo walking around w/out sling or cast.

So I'm guessing it's not as bad as it looked last night.

If that's the case, I'd much rather he sit out a few and let either the bruises or sore muscles heal.
