I'm not sure if it's been mentioned or not, but if I'm calculating it correctly all we need is 1 more win to clinch the division? Calgary is 20 pts behind us with 10 games remaining, while we have 11. So in theory if we win one more game it'll mean we have clinched a playoff spot as well as the division. :fullofwin:

Seems like the Coyotes had the Flamers number this season but the run for the final 8th spot is gearing up to be quite interesting.

been mentioned a bunch of time, and to be honest, getting kind of annoying. I really don't see why we care.
We'll all be raging if we don't finish first in the league,
so I don't see why everyone is making a big fuss about something so petty like clinching playoffs.

The Hart is not a scoring trophy; it's not based on any kinds of raw numbers.

Each year, members of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association vote to determine the player who was the most valuable to his team during the regular season.

Because it's something to talk about, and another way to measure the awesome performance this team is seeing right now.

Schneider starting tonight.
I wonder if they're trying to get him enough starts for a calder consideration?

Hondaracer 03-16-2011 09:13 AM

If daniel would win both hart and art Ross that would be a HUGE accomplishment not only in NHL history but sports history

@sportsnetmurph Edler says the rehab is going well and everything is on track. A return sometime AROUND the start of the playoffs is still the goal.

Cory has played 18 games so far this season. In order to be considered for the Calder, he needs to play at least 25 games. With only 11 games left in our season, it seems unlikely (but possible) that he will start for 7 of those.

He's played 20 games so far this season.

Actually he's started 18 games but played in 20. Tonight will be his 21st game so maybe they'll give him a couple more starts after tonight and a few relief appearances to hit that 25 game mark. :eek5x:

Regardless of whether its 18 or 20, unless we lock up the presidents trophy in 6 games, I don't think we'll see Schneids in 5 games of 11.

Canucks only need 1 point to clinch the NW Division title. If we get that tonight then don't be surprised to see Schneider playing at least half of the remaining games.

Oops

E-40six 03-16-2011 11:36 AM

I think you posted that in the wrong thread

spoon.ek9 03-16-2011 11:37 AM

woops, my bad. that's what i meant: started 18 games hah.

also, i was thinking about it, and it might be wise to give luongo some more rest towards the end of the season. so starting cory more often in these last 11 games could be a win-win situation.

mako 03-16-2011 12:30 PM

Canucks last 5 power plays: 5 for 5
2-2 against the Wild
2-2 against Flames
And they scored on last PP against Sharks

AWESOME

We technically already clinched the NW title. Calgary lost yesterday and can only tie us now, but I think we get the tie breaker.

fliptuner 03-16-2011 12:37 PM

Salo, confirmed playing tonight.

Quote:

“He says he’s good to go, so he’s going to play,” head coach Alain Vigneault said.

Sauvé has since been returned to the farm, and his emergency summoning will not count against Vancouver’s limit for the remainder of the regular season. The Canucks still have three call-ups left.

Like me, you forgot about Minnesota. If we lose all our games and they win all in regulation they get the NW division. Therefore, we need one more point to clinch
