Vancouver Canucks' centre Manny Malhotra suffered an eye injury on Wednesday night and the damage may be worse than expected.

Malhotra underwent surgery after the game and will see a specialist on Thursday to get an update on his condition.

There are no broken bones but there is concern about his vision.

During Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche, Malhotra was struck in the eye with a puck and left a trail of blood on the ice as he was ushered to the dressing room.

oh god... GWS manny! we need you!

fliptuner 03-17-2011 12:54 PM

You know what? Fuck this shit. His vision problems were caused by trauma and swelling. Once the swelling goes down his vision will get better and he'll be in for the playoffs.

Why? Cause he's fucking MONEY, that's why!!!

Anyone can fail me all they want if he doesn't show up in the post season. Until then this is what I choose to believe.

Usually when someone says "season", they refer to the entire season, including playoffs.

I dunno, somehow I feel "meh" about this.
Maybe I believe Canucks will pull through regardless.

(btw, more reason to start wearing those visors...)

Canucks with and without manny are two different teams.

Remember how everyone raved bout Chicago winning last year because of how effective their 3rd and 4th line was?

Or in 2007 with Anaheim's toughness and the best shut down checking line?

It's the main thing that we've been missing and manny is a huge part of it.

Our faceoff's are one of the big reason's we're winning. Gaining that control from when the puck drops makes a world of difference.

Kes and Hank are pretty good - but not as good as Manny.

dboy 03-17-2011 01:37 PM

Make him wear a cage and he'll be good to go

InvisibleSoul 03-17-2011 01:39 PM

Some speculate this is what Malhotra has:

Vansterdam 03-17-2011 02:03 PM

fuck hope malhotra makes it back before playoffs

Hondaracer 03-17-2011 02:14 PM

No joke his loss in my mind hits our cup chances like -10 to -15%

sportsnet blacked it out for a split second... it was probably worst than it seems
havent felt so worried for a hockey player since naslund broke his leg

AzNightmare 03-17-2011 02:37 PM

:fuuuuu: I tried to stay positive but with all your comments,
you guys scare me now.

And this picture doesn't help.

Wear a cage and play with one eye????

Soundy 03-17-2011 02:45 PM

One eye = no depth perception. GFL playing hockey that way... nevermind not being able to see anything on your left side.

Vansterdam 03-17-2011 02:46 PM

fuck that picture !!!

shawn79 03-17-2011 02:48 PM

holy shit! judging by that picture seems like his eyeball exploded... hoping the best for manny! It looks like theres a small cut between his eyelids and eyebrow

Hondaracer 03-17-2011 02:53 PM

Hmm.. Hard to tell from that picture looks to be more the skin above the eye, I thought on SNET last night they said he went to hospital because there was so much blood in his eye..

This is why people should wear half visors if they're not going to drop the gloves.

:fuuuuu:

E-40six 03-17-2011 03:02 PM

looks like it hit him in the brow hard and not the eyeball

highfive 03-17-2011 03:14 PM

Good thing we still have one more month left to go before the playoffs.

Bryan Berard did it mind you he went out in March and missed the remainder of the season as well as the next season before returning a year and a half later.

Harvey Specter 03-17-2011 04:48 PM

I hope Manny is ok and it's not too serious, we really need him next month.

season i think its only the regular season...if he's out including the playoffs, they'll say out for the year..i think....

SoulCrusher 03-17-2011 05:01 PM

TSN is reporting Manny is out indefinite. More to come after he sees a specialist.

Guess we should be lucky we're not feeling what the pen fans are feeling after losing Crosby and Malkin. They were having a good season before that.
