Malholtra was one of the key pieces of our team this year. Sad to not see him play for us for the rest of the season and playoffs.

Tapioca 03-21-2011 01:28 PM

Bolduc has been recalled, but he'll probably separate his shoulder again after he takes a few draws.

Hopefully Glass will get back soon. A couple of months ago, Manny was showing Glass the ropes in the circle and in a couple of games, it seemed like he was a pretty good study.

Tim Budong 03-21-2011 01:29 PM

albeit only 17games max, guess its the right move.
Cooke tho, is great on their PK

Not really racist! 03-21-2011 01:38 PM

^ lol @ that first comment

so retarded..

on a serious note, cooke had this coming one way or another... head shotting people, and a repeat offender.

spoon.ek9 03-21-2011 01:48 PM

fuckin' eh... that's a huge loss for us. i hate getting news like this after such a great day yesterday :(

i truly hope manny gets better and is able to be healthy not just for the sake of hockey but for himself and his family.

Gumby 03-21-2011 01:51 PM

Awww crap, regarding Malhotra's situation.

Malhotra can't be replaced, but good thing we picked up Higgins & Lapierre!

b0unce. [?] 03-21-2011 02:30 PM

Speechless. I wish Malhotra the speediest recovery.
That ray of hope for a successful playoff run seems so far now :(

Gh0stRider 03-21-2011 02:31 PM

Damn, that sucks for the Canucks.

Good that cooke is gone for the rest of season and first round.

As much as I agree that Manny is a huge part of the team, the PK and faceoffs, I HATE it that 1040 and other sports shows are making it seem like the Canucks chances are done... What did Manny do for the sharks last year? He wasn't the key factor. He is a great player but he isn't the guy that will take us to the cup. It is a team effort. Remember when they said that the canucks were screwed when Edler was injured? What happened? the Canucks still tore it up! If edler and bieksa are both healthy and are able to play come playoff time, we will be stronger than we are now or have been with Manny.

punkwax 03-21-2011 02:35 PM

Losing Malhotra sucks, yes. Losing him will definitely leave a hole in our lineup but he isn't the end all be all for the Canucks. Look what we've done without Edler and Bieksa.

The sky isn't falling Chicken Littles. We will be just fine without him.

woob 03-21-2011 02:43 PM

With 2 of our top 4 D back soon, we'll be fine. I'm just excited to see how AV works the lineup. I want to see Higgins take over for Raymond. Needless to say, Raymond has been a huge underachiever this year.

dinamix 03-21-2011 02:43 PM

No big deal . We lost a daniel Sedin for half a season last year and we still manage to have a successful season.

Think about the super bowl champs green bay packers.'they were missing half their roster and stil won the superbowl

Too much crying and whining.
Let's see how this plays out in the next few games at the very least before
we start the panic parade.

Spidey 03-21-2011 02:47 PM

^ yup.. good teams win with the lineup they have with or without injuries.. look at all the players that have been dropping for other teams..

Harvey Specter 03-21-2011 02:55 PM

I feel bad for Manny, when I met him a few weeks ago he was so upbeat and extremely friendly and spent almost 30 mins just chatting, hopefully he recovers for training camp.

And on the topic of Cooke...I'm glad Cooke is gone but I would have liked to see a season ending suspension. He's a repeat offender and he's as dirty as they come and to throw a nasty head shot during n a game that was televised on NBC? I mean seriously dude, wtf were you thinking?!?

nosaj 03-21-2011 02:57 PM

damn....hope manny gets back to 100% vision soon and playing for us again next year!

Raymond's confidence is shot. When he takes the puck into the offensize zone, he'll either lose it via a stick check, or he'll take the puck to the outside and try to squeeze by the defenceman, but lose the puck anyway.

I'd like to see Tambellini up on the second line again. I notice Tambellini far more on the 4th line than Raymond on the 2nd.

aaaa322 03-21-2011 03:11 PM

Lapierre has to step it up like he did for montreal last playoffs or else this team won't go very far without a legitimate third line. I hope Maholtra is alright; hope it isn't career threatening.

highfive 03-21-2011 03:29 PM

Hopefully Lapierre can step it up on the faceoffs. He was getting better in the PHX game.

pure.life 03-21-2011 03:30 PM

time to bring #16 back!

Hondaracer 03-21-2011 03:50 PM

Lappy and Higgins going to have to step it up to take pressure off Kesler and other players who's minutes will increase as a result of manny

RacingMetro92 03-21-2011 04:14 PM

This is where we get to see how the Canucks deal with adversity and try to finish the season strong. They need to keep up their level of play without Manny and will need to rally around the loss of him and take momentum into the playoffs. Theres a reason why they call us one of the deepest teams in the league.

Fappin 03-21-2011 04:17 PM

League suspends Cooke for the remainder of the season and the first round of the playoffs (14 games)

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=5...id=DL|NHL|home

Amuse 03-21-2011 04:26 PM

Lapierre was 55.4% in faceoffs in the playoffs with Montreal last year.
He is 7 for 11 after Malholtra went down.
