You really need two good centers on the PK. Can't have Kes out there 2 minutes. Malhotra was our only good lefty on the draw.
Our PK last season was 18th in the league. I'm worried because special teams can make or break you in the postseason, but we may be a good enough team to make up for the loss of Manny.

But losing the No.2 face-off man in the league is still pretty significant IMO. | Yes you're losing some but from the vibe I'm feeling with some Canuck fans, it sounds like they're already making excuses for whatever the outcome is postseason based on a 3rd liner. (I'm not saying you, but from the knee-jerk panic maelstrom I observed as of recent)
Pens arguably have 2 of the top 3 players in the league, but for this year, it's the Canucks who have 2 of the top 3. We have one of the deepest defense and an NHL top 5 goaltender with a formidable back up to boot.
Not only that but we have a rising star checking line spearheaded by Kesler that can pot goals here and there with Samuellson. Also, compare how tough our bottom line is last year (or of seasons past) with the likes of Wellwood, Pyatt, Bernier vs. this year alone with Torres, Lappiere, Higgins.
That's still a pretty well equipped team and that's still more than what some of the Western Conference top 8 can show for.
oh
and yes we lost Edler, but the #2 PHI just lost Chris Pronger, Ducks just lost their #1 goalie, and Pens just lost their best players; so it's not like the pre-playoff injury bug is only exclusive to Canucks.
IMO AV should still have a lot to work with if he doesn't find himself outcoached in the post season again.

Buncha pinheads calling into Team1040 this morning. Especially the guy talking about Canucks not fighting back against tight-checking teams like Chicago, when a later caller pointed out Canucks got 7 out of 8 possible points from them in the season series.
I'd say Edler's impact on the team is arguably moreso than Malholtra's. And Edler + Bieksa definitely moreso. It is a big hole to fill nonetheless, but I think the Canucks have worked through worse adversity with Edler and Bieksa.

Can't remember what the stat was exactly, and too lazy to look it up, but you get the point.

NHL disciplinarian Colin Campbell handed down his stiffest suspension of the season Monday, banning Penguins agitator Matt Cooke for the rest of the regular season and first round of the playoffs after he elbowed Rangers defenceman Ryan McDonagh in the head.
Pittsburgh has 10 games remaining in the regular season so the suspension will be a minimum of 14 games.

"First round" can be anywhere from 4 to 7 games. Duh?

Congrats to Daniel (and BlackZRoadster's sis-in-law).
The selfish part of me makes me wonder how having a newborn won't be a distraction at this time of year... Ahh he's a professional, he gets paid the big bucks, and they can afford to get help at home if necessary.

There are still games left to play, and it kinda shows who true fans are and who's a bandwagoner. Armchair GM's always make me laugh.
The D as a whole is definitely more important than one man, but a loss of a solid player is still a loss. Takes a team effort to win a cup.
