Canucks should beat whoever they play in first round.
I don't want to hear all these excuses.
It's just pathetic.
Same here. I know that we all like to speculate on who we'll play in the 1st round, but the truth of the matter is that if we can't beat whoever the 8th seed is going to be, how the hell do we expect to win the cup? The team has been going about this season with the "one game at a time" attitude, and everyone seems to be very business-like even when winning, knowing that the big prize is still far ahead and that a good regular season means shit in the playoffs.
I expect us to win the 1st round no matter who we play, but the length of the series will definitely vary depending on our opponent.
BTW... 5 points clinches us the conference. Detroit and San Jose are 10 points back with 7 and 6 games to go, respectively.
In fact, four points MIGHT do it - two wins for us, and all seven for the Wings, would leave us tied for points AND ROW. Next tiebreaker is the season series, I'd have to look that up...
edit: shit, 2-0-2 vs. the Wings... "The greater number of points earned in games between the tied clubs." - that would give it to us, I believe, as that's 6 points for us, and only 4 for them, since our two wins were in regulation, and theirs were OT and SO.
So that's it: two more wins, and we win the conference.

Philly - 8 games left, 100 points, potential for 116 points there, so we need 10 points to clinch the President's Trophy. Philly plays Boston today, Bruins are third in the east and have a good chance to do us a favor by beating them.
