Crawford will win it.
Hawks would be out of the playoff race if it wasn't for him stepping up and taking the position from Turco

With Manny on LTIR, do we still have room under the cap to fit Edler, Glass and Alberts when they're ready in the next week or so? If not, who should we bump to get them back into form?

I'm probably a bit biased for Couture since I'm a sharks fan but I think he would get the nod over Skinner and Grabner based on the fact he is on a playoff team, of course they could also look the other way and see Grabners stats as a bigger achievement given how terrible the Islanders are lol.

Grabner averages 14:57 in ice time per game. He doesn't get to play on the power play much at all, and is leading the NHL in non-PP goals at 30. 25 goals at even strength, 5 SHG, 1 PPG.
As far as not cracking the top 2 lines here, a lot of people would have probably said there's no way he's going to score 31+ goals too. You can't say a 31 goal rookie of the year candidate is unable to crack a top 2 line role here. You have to remember that Jeff Tambellini got a long look at a 2nd line role during the season. Raymond has struggled and now Higgins is getting a shot. If he was on the team he would've had a chance at the 2nd line role with the injuries and cold streaks we've had from Raymond and Samuelsson.
Also, it's not really top 2 line or bust when you have Tambellini on the 4th line.

In the NHL a lot of players can score and have immense skill, it is whether they get the chance to prove it/who they play with.
Anyways, all of you should stop crying oer Grabner, it is done with. What idf this What if that... Who really cares anymore. Stop sounding like Leafs fans and dwelling in the past.

In fact ppl argue that the NW division is one of the weakest in the NHL now along with the SE. I'm just saying ppl gotta stop using the "he playes in the East" argument and that's the end game for all skills arguments.
It's very juvenile to say that this is the sole reason why Grabner succeeded in the East.

I don't buy the whole "Grabner is only scoring so much 'cause he plays top line minutes on a shitty team" or "anyone can score that much if they played that many minutes."
If this is true why don't we play Orestovich on the top line??? Lappierre??? Who needs the Sedins!?
I think Canuck fans are just a little bitter that we gave up a 30 goal scorer.
Now do I think it was a bad trade?? *checks standings* FUCK NO. Ballard was a much needed player as we know the bad luck we get on the blueline. Underused (that's a whole different story), but needed.
Now this isn't a big deal in the present because we are kicking so much ass. But a couple of things will happen down the line:
If we win the cup this year and Grabner turns out to be a excellent player, people will look back at this in 10 years and say it was a bad deal BUT it was justified because we won the cup (Kinda like trading Iginla for Nieuwendyk). So no one will really give a shit.
If we get knocked out early again and Grabner turns out to be an excellent player, people will look back at this in 10 years and say this was one of the Canucks worse trades in history (kinda like Pittsburgh trading away Naslund or Vancouver trading away Neely).
But for now, I'm gonna enjoy our perfect season and worry about the Grabner thing in the future.

It's very juvenile to say that this is the sole reason why Grabner succeeded in the East. | How many eastern games have you watched this season in their entirety?
ive probably watched 15-18 full eastern conference matchups with the last one being Caps VS lightning
i almost puked how gross the whole game was played compared to the west, players like grabner thrive in a turn over based system where 1-2 players are involved in a breakout, they get a chance, and the play goes the other way [the majority of eastern teams play a similar style to this]
very few teams play a puck possession game like which happens in the west, Grabner never broke into our top 2 lines the entire time he was here, whether that be bad luck or unfortunate circumstances, either way he never found a way to do it
MG saw that having another solid top 4 dman puts us closer to winning the cup than having a while speedy, undersized top 6 forward who showed a lack of finish for much of his stay in Vancouver
it wasn't whether anyone "won" or "lost" the trade, we acquired a piece to our team we needed to be closer to a cup, and grabner was never going to be that peice..
also keep in mind, the GM that put together the cup winning hawks also passed on Grabner, imo his current surge is more of an apparition than anything and i'm willing to bet anyone that he will not score as many goals next year as this year.

Agree with Hondaracer. Grabner may have did better than last season if he were still on the Canucks, but simply the hardnosed grinding system Vigneault implements, the TOI he would've received, and the overall style of play in the Western Conference are all factors that would've worked against a player like Grabner.
