Yikes, a bit lower and Thornton could've lost an eye. Cut by skate, and after he was hurt and bleeding the Hawks bench was chirping and mocking him, classy to mock an injured player. Second time this year the Hawks have done that, 1st was when Morrison got hurt http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL.../17542721.html

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we can get way more than 10 in a couple of days. I wish I could get that price for custom. I want a Large, #14, home, with MONSTER on the back.

Daniel Sedin revealed that he and Rome spoke before the game with the defenceman letting him in on how long his goalless streak was, to which Daniel replied that tonight was the night to end it.

Henrik Sedin played a part by slowing down and not touching the puck as it veered down the ice into the empty net. A lesser man, one with a shot at a second Art Ross Trophy in as many years, would have tapped it home, maybe without even thinking, but not Henrik. Like a true teammate, he gave Rome the glory he deserved.
Reminder of how classy these guys are.

I remember we used to play at the pacific coliseum before GM place was built, but that's a different building. Not one that was renamed.

Hopefully most people are fans from back then. I still have my playoff towel from the 5th game in the dallas series which we knocked them out. I went with my mom and with Bure scoring that place was rocking. The traffic jam was so big leaving it took over a hour to get out of the parking lot.

Gotta love good hockey memories.

Best memory from that series: we lived in an apartment building at Hastings and Kamloops, and usually watched the games at my neighbor's place - facing Hastings, second floor - so we'd lean out the windows cheering with the crowds going by.

Car and foot traffic moving down Hastings was especially loud until the light changed for the crossing traffic, and things would get quiet as everyone came to a stop... so the one night, after we beat Toronto, we're hanging out the windows, traffic stops, everything gets quiet... sitting at the light heading toward downtown is this little Chevette with a couple wearing Leafs jerseys and looking very dejected. The windows are down, so my buddy yells at them, "Hey! HEY!" - gets everyone looking up at him - points to the car with one arm... points east down Hastings with the other... and yells, "TORONTO'S BACK THAT WAY!"

Yeah, the street just went nuts... and mercifully for the Leafs fans, the light changed and they booked it down the street :D

Watching the replay, you can see that one of the Sedins (probably Henrik) also picked up the puck for Rome. So thoughtful!

Recent cup winners have had quality 3rd line centres:

Stall
Draper
Pahlsson
Bolland
Weight

The loss of Malhotra shouldn't be underestimated. The bottom line is every team needs a quality 3rd line centre to make it deep in the playoffs.

Look at teams like Detroit who have lost their number 1 goalie, and all their top gunz throughout the season, Hawks with Sharp, Pens with Crosby etc. And we are crying about Manny a third line centre... We made less big of a deal when we lost Edler, our NUMBER FUCKING 1 D man! shit.
You can patch up holes in the regular season easily. When the time and space goes away in the playoffs, you need skilled guys who can make plays to make it deep. Name one cup winner in the last 5-7 years that has won the cup without a marquee player. I can't think of any. If Crosby doesn't come back in the playoffs, the Penguins won't make it past the 2nd round. Same with the Blackhawks if Sharp doesn't return.
