Best idea yet.
A++++
Would read again.

Jackwimmer 07-20-2010 08:56 PM

I feel sorry for your parents

orange7 07-20-2010 09:17 PM

no kovy in the canucks system please.

we already have a great roster. We don't need to mess thing up.

shawn79 07-20-2010 09:27 PM

we already have one of the best top six forwards in the league.

kovy = do not want!

SkinnyPupp 07-20-2010 09:37 PM

LOL @ comparing a eurotrash scorer who thinks he deserves more than the NHL cap can allow, to one of the most determined gritty defensemen in modern hockey history

Yeah Kovalchuk has every intention of playing until he's 44

I just wish he would sign with a team in Russia so we can finally forget about this crap

Seriously - why are you not in Mike Gillis' shoes? Or any other GM around the league?

Not really racist! 07-20-2010 10:13 PM

Not really surprised.. LOL

Hondaracer 07-20-2010 10:40 PM

they will rewrite the contract and it will pass

odds are they will have to give him 11+ in the first years in order to make the jump work at that 11th year

Kovi was probably scared to come to the west because he knew he would flake out when he realizes he couldnt get 40 goals in the western confrence and wanted to back out of his deal, which is probably why the kings never worked anything out with him

damn... you've been around since 2004, but barely have any posts (relatively).
Are you new to hockey? You've made several dumb posts already and you probably only
have like 5 posts in this thread.

Go look at the Asian thread. This kid is epic

LUUUUUUUU 07-21-2010 12:38 AM

where the hell is this asian thread

BlacknJean 07-21-2010 12:45 AM

kovy's ego is bigger than NHL's salary cap!

Tim Budong 07-21-2010 12:45 AM

the real question is can kovy play out west
as mentioned, most likely not?

Russians can play in the west. Its not as bad as you make it out to be.
Datsyuk, Federov, Mogilny, Bure just to name a few. Those players are either hall of famers or HOF to be.
With the new nhl rules where cluthing and grabbing and scrums have been a thing of the past this favors Russians even more. The only thing we would need if we signed Kovy is a bonified goon with skill like boogard to protect Kovy if things got chippy.

It would be impossible to say how many points Kovy would produce in Canucks uniform but him alongside the sedins twins would be the most epic line in the NHL history. I'm talking on par with gretzky's record breaking goal streak with the oilers.

Yup. Pre '99 lockout Larry Bird Exception Rule. No cap hit and no player limit on players who have played for the recipient team for at least 3 years.

He didn't come out west because LA didn't offer the term or the money he was looking for. Scared? Please... LA was his first choice all along, why do you think he held out for so long? He's one of the top snipers in the game, if Rick Nash can score 40 in the west so can he.

shawn79 07-21-2010 02:37 AM

rick nash contract is a joke, hes not that great without any support

Federov has a chance to make the HOF. I think it's too early to say for Datsyuk but I doubt it. Bure and Mogilny are not HOF material. The only Russian that could play in the west to any degree of effectiveness is probably Ovechkin and that's because he plays a very North American-style game. Datsyuk and Federov are complete players...great offensively but even better defensively. Kovalchuk is not even close. He's get destroyed in the West where the teams are better.

Here's the best test...NAME A RUSSIAN IN THE WEST THAT ISN'T DATSYUK. Can't? Thought so...because there aren't any Russians in the West with more than...I don't know, 50 points.

Kovalchuk to the Canucks is a terrible deal not only because he wouldn't fit in here with the team's culture but it would DESTROY the team's future with a retarded $10m a year deal for 10 years. Anyone dumb enough to pay him that sort of money should be punched in the face.

You know nothing about hockey. Please stop talking before I ban you altogether.

if he's a joke then why was he on the olympic team. he also won a gold medal and if you ask fellow nhl players they all think rick nash is a stud.
i would trade luongo straight up for nash if i was gm. this is only because i feel luo has been inconsistent and we have a contingency plan in net with corey schneider.
