4 of the last 11 have won the cup. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that more 1st place teams in that same 11 year period have won the cup then 2nd, 3rd, 4th, ect.......

There are no toque at all for us poor folks sitting in upper bowl welfare seats.

I am so glad I bought last minute tickets for this game. Only if Kesler shot it 0.1 seconds earlier...

Should have the similar basketball rule saying "puck leaves the stick, it counts."

All night, I just had the "BEAT LA" chant in my mind. But that's for Celtics vs. Lakers.

since 1985-86 season only 7 of the teams that won the presidents trophy went on to win the cup and since the lock out only 1 team has done it.out of those 7, 5 of them didnt win the cup the first time they won the presidents trophy, it was the next year on their 2nd presidents trophy a year after being eliminated from the playoffs(excluding the avs who was 4years later). i still think the cup is the hardest due to having to be the top eight in the conference first and then play a grueling schedule to win the cup.

we are entering 2010's, canucks to set new trend

Hondaracer 03-31-2011 11:41 PM

IMO presidents trophy winning teams not winning the cup isn't a "curse" it's a testament to how hard it truely is to win the hardest championship in professional sports.

Since 1980, winning percentage of which teams won the cup depending on their seed. Over the last 30 years the 1st seed team wins the cup way more then any other seed, 1/3 of the time.

In short winning the Presidents Trophy over the last 30 years (at least) greatly increases your odds of winning the cup.

1st -33.3%
2nd -10%
3rd -10%
4th -13.3%
5th -10%
6th -10%
7th -6.6%
8th -3.3%
9th -3.3%

I hope we can pickup this weekend or by next weekend... With us winning the presidents cup and the playoffs coming soon I bet there will be a very high demand for jerseys.

You were also 105? Where abouts? I was in the last row.

I stayed til Daniel's interview was over. I wasn't going to miss serenading the NHL's leading scorer with chants of "MVP! MVP! MVP!" to beat a couple minutes of traffic.

It depended on what gate you came in. There weren't any at the Canucks store entrance, which is where I came in but I picked them up at another gate I walked past to get to the club seats.

Hi_Im_Mike 04-01-2011 03:43 AM

Hey guys I need a little help with something. So my friend owns a print shop and I came up with this idea to print me a custom canucks banner for this year's team. Thing is, I dunno what I am gonna put in my 6x5 canvas. At first I thought of just the canucks logo but found it too plain.
Then I thought of putting pictures in to fill the space but I don't know where to get that many good pictures from.
So...Any idea on what I should print on this canvas?

jeedee 04-01-2011 04:13 AM

Find renders [cutouts] of the entire team and put them side by side on the banner :fuckyea:

Mercy 04-01-2011 04:15 AM

Put the logo in the middle and put some pics from both cup runs and put some pics on of our star players from this year

Vancouver Canucks capture 2010-11 Presidents' Trophy
Friday, 04.01.2011 / 12:53 AM / News NHL.com

NEW YORK -- The Vancouver Canucks have captured the 2010-11 Presidents' Trophy, awarded to the NHL club finishing the regular season with the League's best record. The Canucks (52-17-9, 113 points) clinched the trophy tonight following a 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings.

The Canucks, celebrating their 40th anniversary season in 2010-11, have claimed the Presidents' Trophy for the first time. Tonight's milestone victory caps a regular season in which the club already has set franchise records for most points (113), most wins (52) and most road wins (26). Their 17-1-2 run in games from Nov. 24 through Jan. 8 marked the best 20-game stretch in franchise history.

The Canucks have scored the most goals in the NHL (253), allowed the fewest (177) and have recorded the top power-play and penalty-killing percentages (24.7% and 86.6%, respectively). No club in the League's 'expansion era' (since 1967-68) has finished first in each of these categories in a single season.

Displaying the depth required of a successful NHL club, Vancouver has overcome a rash of injuries to their blueline corps throughout the season. Defensemen Keith Ballard (17 games), Kevin Bieksa (16), Alexander Edler (29), Dan Hamhuis (15) and Sami Salo (55) all have missed significant time.

Among the Canucks' top individual performances:

* LW Daniel Sedin leads the NHL in scoring with 100 points (41 goals, 59 assists). Twin brother Henrik won the scoring race last year and ranks third this season (19-72--91), one point behind second-place Martin St. Louis of the Tampa Bay Lightning (30-62--92). Among the many famous brother combinations who have graced the NHL since its founding, none has captured scoring titles in back-to-back seasons nor finished 1-2 in League scoring in the same season. The last time brothers finished first and third in League scoring was 1942-43 (Doug and Max Bentley, Chicago Blackhawks).

* Center Ryan Kesler is tied for fourth place among NHL goal-scorers with 37, surpassing his single-season high of 26 set in 2008-09.

* Goaltender Roberto Luongo leads all goaltenders in wins (37) and ranks third in goals-against average (2.14) and save percentage (.927). Rookie Cory Schneider has excelled in a backup role (15-3-2, 2.16, .930).

As Presidents' Trophy winners, the Canucks are guaranteed home-ice advantage throughout their participation in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

^ by reading the article above made me very emotional..

i really cant wait for some playoff success from these guys ... i had a taste of gold medal last year.... stanley cup would probably be 100x better...

im already imagine streets full of cars rocking car flags, people honk while the cnaucks scored a goal... the whole atmosphere just got me so pumped up just by thinking about it ...

Damn, i will be so nervous and the game will be so epic is we play the hwaks in first round!!

murd0c 04-01-2011 08:10 AM

I really want to play the Hawks in the first round. I really think beating them will give us enough momentum to make it to the finals.
