Except for the fact that 8th place teams that finish strong and squeak into the playoffs can often upset the 1st place team. Nobody wants to face a surging team with tons of momentum behind them.

If toronto doesn't make it (and I don't think they will), then hopefully we'll get Hughson as the play-by-play guy on CBC throughout the playoffs. I can't stand Mark Lee (or whatever his name is)

Vancouver is the hottest team in the league in their last 10, so at worst they'd be facing a team that's playing equally as well as them

dangonay 04-03-2011 10:56 AM

^ Still better to play an 8th place team that's been playing like an 8th place team all year than an 8th place team playing like a 1st place team when it matters most.

Well with this year, if calgary or To squeak in, it isn't because they have been playing GREAT. It will be because they got help with the team they nudged out playing like crap in the final stretch. TBH, i would not be afraid of the flames or the leafs this year.... Anyone in the East, from 6-8 are a joke.

LUUUUUUUU 04-03-2011 11:28 AM

rangers might do well

6-8 in the east is Montreal, Rangers and Buffalo respectively. All three of them have stellar goalies that can steal a series like Luongo did for us a few years back. I don't know what you're on if you think they're jokes.

Montreal recently got shutout 3 games in a row, and are the 24th highest scoring team. NY's leading scorer is Dubinsky, with a whopping 52 points (2 more than Samuelsson, who has missed 7 games). All of those teams have inflated records from playing the weak bottom half of the eastern conference (5 teams with less than 80 pts, vs 2 in the west). None of those teams would even be in a playoff spot if they were in the west. I wouldn't say theyre jokes, but as far as playoff teams go, this year, they are the weakest 3, bar none.

They could steal a game or 2 here and there but not a series.... I am comparing the East teams with West teams. The East in itself is a low level conference than the West, on average. 6-8 in the East wouldn't make the playoffs in the West, period.

Although I am impressed BUffalo is in the playoffs as of today without Derek Roy, and the start to the season that they had.

If Dallas and Calgary lose today consider them done for the year.

In that case, if you're comparing east to west I totally agree. I'm just saying they aren't jokes since I've seen what a hot goalie (luongo '07) can do in one series.

LUUUUUUUU 04-03-2011 05:40 PM

gg on the pool JKam, close all year long and i think we might be going to tie breaker wutever that is

JKam 04-03-2011 05:44 PM

you've won it. fml. I think you beat me earlier in the year (which should be the tiebreaker) either that of best stats overall which you also have. short handed point just killed me lol.

LUUUUUUUU 04-03-2011 05:48 PM

does it say that tie breaker is the season matchup between our teams?

JKam 04-03-2011 05:49 PM
