Perry hits 50 goals....geez |
pekka rinne should win mvp (Most Valueable Player) if u get scientific on the hart trophy |

Perry looks MVP right now. the science behind that is that he has 50 goals and is carrying the team on his back. And without getzlaf for parts of the season...much like how hank was with dank last year |
whoever finish the west conference gonna be so exhaust playing against the east.. there is like no bad teams in the west |
I know this isnt the place to advertise items for sale. but i figure this thread would get the most traffic from the canucks fans! selling a *like new* canucks hat. check out the link in my sig for more info. |

I am sure that this question has been covered. Total hockey noob here. Why does the NHL schedule their games such that each division play within themselves 5-6 games each season? Not saying the Canucks don't deserve the presidents trophy but if you play against teams that don't even make the playoffs half the time, of course your record is going to look spectecular! Another thing that bothers me is that having Detroit and Chicago in the West is beyond me... I grew up watching the NBA, please enlighten me. Posted via RS Mobile |
^they just dont have enough teams in the west and they want original 6 out in the west as well btw care to explain the definition of "beyond me" |

The schedule was redone after the lockout to reduce costs. They said to "encourage rivalries" but that was bullshit. It was to reduce the travel costs of NHL teams so division rivals played 8 games against each other. That was gay as hell because we had to play Minnesota all the damn time and never got to see the Caps or Pens or Habs, etc so now we play 6 division games, 4 conference games and every other team at least once (twice for three teams...I think we play the Eastern Canadian teams twice). That really shouldn't take anything away from the Canucks season. Sure we destroyed our own division but the West is significantly stronger than the East. |
By the way...Mother Russia wants Shirokov back. Quote:

So glad to see the Ducks not take things lying down like they did last season, what a game! Score-y Perry for MVP!! Oh and Canucks fans, you're welcome for eliminating Calgary...One more time for Tegra Devil : http://img576.imageshack.us/img576/4...ryfacepalm.png |
Thanks for the history and rationale behind this guys. I don't really watch other teams play and don't know enough about the NHL system so I can't really see the justifications behind the weird schedule. Yea, maybe there's minimal effects on performance. But don't you think balancing out the games are much better? In terms of knowing you apponents in the playoffs? Traveling cost can be an issue... but they ticket sales and broadcasting revenue can make up for it. Just thinking that it will be much better if the league is more balanced out. surpisingly not overly upset....we showed we were a very good team once things clicked...unfortunately that click happened after loosing 85% of our first 40 games. i think a canucks vs flames first round would have been a lot more difficult than most canucks fans think. depending on who the canucks get...chicago or anahiem, the nucks better fear anahiem...i think they will tear the canucks a new one if the nucks drift into the playoffs thinking they are the gods of the nhl |
From Nickelodeon's 24th Annual Kids' Choice Awards, check out the hat Jaden Smith's wearing: http://l.yimg.com/l/im_siggcJROV8OUp...0402185711.jpg |
