I'll agree with you that Burrows is good bang for your buck, but Burrows isn't even half the leader that Iginla is.

there was a reason why iggy won gold in 2010, and burrows didn't. :p

I'm just a big burrows fan.

The arbitrator decides how much Raymond makes. His point production does command the 4 mil he wants. Be cautious and hope for the best. He won't take any term more than 3rd as he all take himself to ufa. Status come 27

The Canucks should walk away from anything more than $3m. Yay...your first season of more than 50 points. Congrats. This is your 3rd season and last season you had 23 points.

I don't even think that's worth $3m but $3m seems to be the norm. $4m is just insane.

everything is so inflated these days
ughhh

the biggest argument the arbitrator could use is. Alex Burrows is your leading goal scorer, he makes 2mil, heres a pity 2.25 for one year.

thats ideal. Burrows, 2mil last year looked scary knowing that his first 25g+ season could be a one hit wonder

orange7 07-23-2010 02:32 AM

I think raymond would get 50-60pts next year...

still.. 4mill is too much for this team to afford. we want the cup!

Ronin 07-23-2010 03:03 AM

I think the David Perron deal is a good comparison. He had a much better sophomore season than Raymond and got a two-year, $4.3m deal with the Blues. Roughly the same in production...the same sort of player. I think Raymond is faster but Perron is probably a more solid all-around player.

Mike Oxbig 07-23-2010 03:20 AM

perron plays a bigger role for st.louis than raymond does in vancouver
ie, grit, vocal leader, goon type player

raymond is still better.

They were saying on the radio that term is dictated by the club but they can only pick between 1 and 2 years for an arbitration ruling.

VANCOUVER — According to reports out of Finland, Vancouver Canucks defenceman Sami Salo tore an Achilles tendon playing floor hockey and will be out at least three months.

The Canucks have yet to confirm or deny the report, which surfaced on Friday.

The 35-year-old blueliner was limited to 68 National HockeyLeague games last season after suffering an assortment of injuries, including a sprained right MCL, and eye injury, groin and leg injuries.

Salo, who was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the ninth round (239th overall) in the 1996 NHL entry draft, has played 11 NHL seasons with the Senators and Canucks.

In 68 games last season, he scored nine goals and 19 assists

salo needs to find himself some girl to party with instead of playing hockey all year long.. he looks so lonely in almost every night out picture with the boys lol

E-40six 07-23-2010 07:47 AM

Looks like we wont be having anymore cap problems for the next little while with Salo and Burrows on IR

Gumby 07-23-2010 08:00 AM

What the frick, Salo... Outside of game nights, he should just stay home and not move.

Getting bitten by the only poisonous snake species in Scandinavia beats the cracker, though.

Brunnstrom re-signs with stars for $675k

The Dallas Stars have agreed to terms with forward Fabian Brunnstrom on a one-year deal worth $675,000.

The team announced the deal prior to an arbitration hearing that was scheduled for Friday morning. The team had originally tendered a qualifying offer to the forward on June 15.

Brunnstrom, 25, scored two goals and nine assists in 44 games with the Stars last season. He has 19 goals and 21 assists in 99 career games.

The native of Jonstorp, Sweden was originally signed by the Stars in as a free agent in May 2008. On Oct. 15, 2008, Brunnstrom became the third player ever to score a hat trick in his NHL debut in a 6-4 win over Nashville.
Wasn't this kid scouted out by Nonis a while ago and was projected to be some upcoming superstar? He dazzled everyone on his NHL debut with a hat trick then did basically nothing the rest of the season ><

cctw 07-23-2010 09:16 AM

damn with salo out does that mean bieksa will stay? ....NOOOOO....I'd rather someone from the minors come up during the early part of the season..

trancehead 07-23-2010 09:39 AM

Edler Hamhuis
Ballard Obrien
Bieksa Ehroff

boom salo doesnt faze us

shawn79 07-23-2010 09:53 AM

probably one of gillis tricks working around the salary cap... asking salo to rest up and then step in. When his cap hit will be 1.5-2.x perfectly midway/end of the season.

Healthy salo in playoffs = win

Yes I remember that, Darren Dreger was all over his nuts like you wouldn't believe. It was hilarious... He said that they were going to sign him for $2 million a year :lol

But then he signed with Dallas, because Nonis got fired. Darn.
