yea screw dallas... canucks need to play the hawks... most the canucks' guys would want to play the hawks... i think that series would be way more exciting to watch and better for the canucks when they go further in the playoffs :fullofwin:

Yes, have to put feelings aside. Dallas is a better option, less travel, less bad blood (which should make for a less painful series) and quite simply, in my humble opinion, a much easier opponent.

Hawks only create storylines. Dallas would create the Story that we kicked their candy asses in the regular season and once again do it in the post season

BUT...

The Canucks are the top team in teh league. Teams should be shitting their pants playing us. This years President Trophy team in the NHL is special because of the PURE DOMINATION in the stat columns compared to the other teams.

If we play the hawks and smash them, then it's all good. Lose again and they'll be calling us their bitch until they retire. I'd take the safer route and go with Dallas.

Er, Dallas and Chicago are both a ~4hr. flight... pretty much the same distance from Vancouver (Chicago is actually 100 miles closer, by air).

So if we win the cup and don't play Chicago you'll put an asterisk beside it?

People have to stop saying "if we don't beat ____ we don't deserve the cup". If we lose to anyone, we won't win it, so its a pretty stupid statement.

Also, no one, especially players on the team cares how they win it. They could win the cup by a phantom call by a ref or the other team accidentally scoring on themselves.

Anyone that has been on any sports team thinks this way. I sure did. Playing on beer hockey leagues I didn't care how we won, as long as we won.

:rolleyes: it's not that they have to beat certain teams or they don't deserve the cup... any hockey fans would love to see a more intense series between rivals rather than the "safer" route to win the cup

for me it doesn't matter who we face, I think the canucks has a chance to crush them all regardless of if it's dallas (who the canucks owned in the regular season) or the hawks (defending champs who eliminated canucks 2 yrs in a row).. i just think they would be more pumped up if they do end up facing the hawks 1st round. this would be better for the whole team mentally as well in the later rounds
