I think you and I were amongst the very few who stuck up for Gillis when he first got hired. Not many people had confidence in his abilities.

I'm a little worried that the Canucks may not have the toughness needed to go all the way - both physically and mentally. Only time will tell. I hope they stay healthy. I remember Linden playing with cracked ribs, bleeding, and downright beat up, but he continued to play his heart out. Kesler is like that, but how many others have that kind of toughness? All the stats, trophies, and awards in the regular season mean nothing in the playoffs. First place, eighth place......... doesn't mean dick. Every team is going to step it up............. so nervous now. Fuck, I hope the Canucks blow out the blackhawks in game one.

Half of those hits would have resulted in suspensions if they happened now... but back then, they didn't even have to look twice, and no pussy fights that happen right afterwards too.

i agree on the toughness part but our mental strength is a LOT better this year. also, others have pointed out that detroit has minimal toughness as well and have won several cups (as we all know). i have a lot of confidence in this year's squad over last year's for sure. our defense and goaltending are excellent, our top 2 lines are a force to be dealt with and the 3rd and 4th line have been able to contribute (better with manny of course) significantly more than last year.
