sportsnetmurph I believe sportsnet one will be on a tier you have to pay for, but it will be FAR cheaper than PPV. I'll miss PPV though. FAIL |

Andrew Ladd signed for 1-year, $2.35 million contract with the Thrashers... A bit too much IMO |
Wonder how the Niemi arbitration will work out! |

His segments "under the radar" and "who's hot in hockey" are stupid and don't provide any value. I'm not a fan of his, but who knows maybe his commentary on live games will be better....give it a shot... |
Maybe Ladd will sign with the Canucks next year for less as he'lll be a UFA :) |
Also,.. .no more Canucks PPV?:thumbsup: |
On the subject of play-by-play... I feel really sorry for those of you who never had the chance to listen to Jim Robson call play-by-play. I'm not saying this because I'm getting nostalgic about '94; he was really that good. His voice was pitch-perfect (deep enough, but also capable of getting you excited) and back in the days when radio was often the only option, he was really able to paint of picture of what was going on. John Shorthouse is decent, but I feel that his calling has regressed since he's made the move to TV. Gord Miller is terrible, Mark Lee should have stuck to football, and Cuthbert's voice can sometimes get annoying. Hughson is enthusiastic, but he is a little too "Hollywood" for my liking. Bob Cole was actually pretty good up until the late 90s, but clearly, he can no longer follow the play or read any names. |

"I just came from the Canucks dressing room and Pavel's groin has never felt better." "Bure is such a great talent, if only he could play with himself out there, it will really give the fans a show." "Oh that was a great hand job by Skudra! He really helped out Ohlund with that one!" "I could watch Kariya play with himself all night long!!!!!!!!" "Bertuzzi is built like a brick house - you should see this guy in the shower!" “Let’s face facts: Jan Bulis is just a dumb hockey player." "Look at Mclean there, great form, so erect in the net!" Classic Larscheid. |
Back in the 90's, only a handful of canuck games were televised and there was no such thing as pay per view, it was either goto the game live or listen on the radio. Jim Robson and Tom Larscheid really did captivate the audience, Robson always painted the perfect picture and Tommy always told it how it is. Yes, he was a bit too homerish, but no one doubted his love for the nucks. Who would of thunk, kids, teenagers, adults, listening to Radio? Well I personally thank Robson and Larscheid for that wonderful experience. One of the great calls by Robson, there's also a great clip of Larsheid, but can't find it where after Bure's goal, he jumps up and screams, "this is the best moment in canucks history" |
