Then after game one it's, all we need is a split we got this in 6 no problem.

Come next spring, the Vancouver Canucks will be hoisting the Stanley Cup. At least, that's what the experts at EA Sports are predicting.

The development and support team at the EA Canada studio in Burnaby ran a simulation of the NHL season using the NHL 11 video game to determine the results. If the sim is to be believed, the Canucks will prevail after a seven-game Stanley Cup final against the Boston Bruins.

Before you scoff, keep in mind that a simulation of the 2010 playoffs using NHL 10 pegged the Chicago Blackhawks as cup winners.

At the time, many sports fans thought that the Hawks lacked the experience to make it through.

The simulations run by EA Sports are worth serious consideration. After all, the games created there, like NHL 11, are built on real-life data for players, coaches, and teams.

"Results are extrapolated by the videogame when two teams match up based on player ratings, line combinations, and include variances such as injuries and hot streaks to give a realistic outcome of a game or series," the company stated in a release.

In the simulation of the 2010-11 NHL season, EA Sports also predicted that the Chicago Blackhawks will be knocked out of the first round of the playoffs by the L.A. Kings, the Calgary Flames will be the only other Canadian team to make the playoffs, and the Washington Capitals will advance to the Eastern Conference finals against the Bruins.

The NHL 11 simulation also predicted individual achievements. Look for Sidney Crosby to capture the Art Ross trophy for a league-leading 107 points. The Pittsburgh Penguin captain will also nab the Hart Memorial trophy, according to the sim.

As well, the prediction is that Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Suban will take the Calder Memorial trophy, Buffalo Sabres netminder Ryan Miller will repeat as the league's best goalie with the Vezina, and L.A. Kings defenseman Drew Doughty will be awarded the James Norris Memorial trophy.

The predictions are all made with fun in mind, of course. But these projections seem quite credible to me. And the more accurate they are, of course, the more EA Sports proves that its NHL video games are more like real life each year.
Not sure about playing the Bruins in the finals though :troll:

Alphamale 04-18-2011 02:39 AM

^haha, yeah. That was on the TSN ones too.

What a moron. Can't score on 5-3....I dunno where your 4 goals are gonna come from, bro.

I see soooo little difference between the Torres/Seabrook hit and this one Bertuzzi laid on Jackman years ago:

Doesn't sound much different than your average CDC posters :troll:

My take:

Seabrook should be suspended for attempting to break Raffi's elbow with his skull. The good news is, even if suspended for the rest of the playoffs, he'll only miss one game.

punkwax 04-18-2011 07:20 AM

Colon Campbell has his hate on for Torres. I wouldn't be surprised if he got a game or two for that hit, which in my opinion, was no different than Getzlaf on Hamhuis.

TouringTeg 04-18-2011 07:26 AM

I agree he will prob get a suspension because it is a repeat offence that is so recent.

I loled when they showed the "History will be Made" ad on CBC with the Hawks right after they lost to go down 3-0 :D

they are quite different... that hit is head on... and even if they wre identical, most of you are not getting the point of where the league is now adays in terms of head shots, whether it is a "hockey play" or not.

Imo, I don;t know if they hit was clean or not, because there are a lot of factors and I do not have the privelege to see the hit frame by frame.

Lastly, if it were edler that come creamed by brouwer in the exact same hit, I think most of you would be singing a different tune.

sonick 04-18-2011 07:31 AM

They are fairly similar, except Jackman got his arm up to cushion it since he had his head up and saw Bertuzzi coming; Seabrook had it out holding his stick and his head looking backwards, but the point of impact on the body is pretty much the same:

Skull on Raffi's shoulder.
It wasn't even an elbow. That's how silly this thing is.
People are all crying over a clean shoulder hit.

Soundy 04-18-2011 07:51 AM

Yeah, well, that's how useless Seabrook is, couldn't even get his head down low enough :troll:

fliptuner 04-18-2011 08:15 AM

http://blackhawks.nhl.com/

In his post game interview, Seabrook says, " I thought he was on my back, I don't know what I was looking at." WTF then? Take some accountability.

Between Quenville and Toews' dillusion, Kane's melodrama, Seabrook being lost behind the goal and overall, the team having no definitive answer on how to deal with us, they stand no chance.

at the last second, yes the point of contact is the same.. but if you watch the play leading up towards the hit, seabrook's side is facing torres.. it isn't until torres is about to nail him that he rotates where his logo is facing torres... with jackman.. he was skating a straight line the whole way... regardless, we will see what the nhl does. i wouldn't be surprised if torres got suspended, but hodgson has played well too
