Turco to Hawks (1y/1.5m) if Niemi fucks them in arbitration.

@JeffMarek: $2.75 is the arb ruling for Antti Niemi. Blackhawks have 48 hours to accept or decline.

LUUUUUUUU 07-31-2010 10:33 AM

2.75 is a decent deal for niemi, hawks need to dump a lot more first tho

Not really racist! 07-31-2010 11:02 AM

hawks can afford 2.75...

just dump more salary

ahahaha

orange7 07-31-2010 03:36 PM

damnit.. I was hoping he would get awarded in the 3+ millions just to screw the hawks

It doesn't really matter who Chicago has in net as long as the core of their team remains the same. The Red Wings had pretty much the same team for their 3 Stanley Cup wins in 1997, 1998 and 2002. Not to mention they won with a different starting goaltender for each Championship.

So u think Chicago would of won the cup if they had Jimmy Howard in net? or Carey Price? Niemi played really well for Chicago and got hot at the right time for them. People say its the core that makes a team win a stanley cup, but i think it takes every1 to do it. The Byfugliens, Bollands, and Ladds that are always overshadowed by the Toews and Kanes but they play a huge part in there cup win.

Red Wings are different, they were simply just too good of a team, and they were able to win championships with mediocre goaltending

Your core group doesn't consist of just star players. It's the players you build your team around. Other than Yzerman, Shanny, Fedorov, and Lidstrom they still kept the same grinders like McCarty, Draper and Maltby for all 3 Championships. It didn't matter who filled their 2nd and 3rd lines.

And I'm not sure what you mean by mediocre goaltending. Mike Vernon, Chris Osgood and Dominik Hasek were all above average to all star goaltenders.

Reports are saying the Hawks will let Niemi walk and sign Turco.

I guess 2.75 wasn't low enough for them to sign him.

Who are they going to move to sign Niemi?

They're already dumped half their roster

shawn79 08-02-2010 02:35 AM

bowman is an idoit he didnt do shit to win the stanley cup. He took dale talloons credit. That dumbass signed hossa to a 12 yr contract and campbell

mb_ 08-02-2010 02:50 AM

Wasn't it Tallon who signed Campbell and Hossa? I've heard the owner/president forced him to do it though. Unless you were talking about Tallon then nvm lulz

DanHibiki 08-02-2010 03:02 AM

I'm 50/50 on the Halak/Niemi non-signing by Montreal and Chicago.

On one hand, how can you let them go after such steller performances in the playoffs?

On the other hand, it was smart because most goalies in the league these days are one-shot wonders. Either they are good for a few years then suck and then maybe good again for a few more and then suck, or they have one-shot deals. It's rare to have a always-steady goaltender like Brodeur. Once you find one like that, you better keep him no matter what! Lets hope Luongo is who we hope he is...

I think you're right. I also believe Bowman signed Toews, Kane, Keith to pretty good contracts in today's NHL. (correct me if i'm wrong)

Yeah he's the one who signed them. I'm not saying the bonuses was not deserved but I think he was underestimating Kane/Toews at the time and now they're going to have a lower cap than everyone else

Yup, they've signed Turco to a $1.3 million deal.
