Hard to tell, but I thought it was still touching during the screenshot, but lifts up just afterwards... either way, didn't think it was that huge of a blown call for the NHL to issue a statement on it.

Agreed... there have been other blown calls that the NHL should have said something about, but they didn't. Hossa's kicked-in goal (which never even crossed the goal line) comes to mind...

They had an HD zoom in last night on CBC that verified it was offside

CHICAGO — It’s not often the NHL cops to a mistake, but when a goal is as far offside as was the Chicago Blackhawks’ second Tuesday night, there’s not much point in pretending otherwise.

Riding the momentum generated from the questionable too-many-men-on-the-ice penalty assessed by a linesman against Vancouver two minutes and 16 seconds earlier, the Hawks took the lead for good at 5:18, Brian Campbell’s go-ahead goal a clear blunder by linesmen Jean Morin and Derek Nansen.

“I said to Mike [Canucks GM Gillis], ‘Yes, it was offside but they did score five more,’” said series supervisor and recent B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Rob Shick, who was one of the best referees in the game at the time of his retirement two years ago. “He acknowledged he was well aware of those.”

While that is certainly true, and perhaps there was no way Vancouver would ever have competed in that game, that’s not the way it works. You never know what’s going to get a team started, and certainly the Hawks got a tremendous push from that goal, which should have been whistled at the blueline. When you throw this mistake in with the fact the Hawks have had 19 power-play opportunities compared to Vancouver’s 10 in the four games, can it be any wonder the hockey fans of this city are developing a persecution complex?

There is also a sense that Vancouver got a break when defenceman Kevin Bieksa was not given an instigator penalty near the end of the game when he decided he’d taken quite enough from Viktor Stalberg and landed a few punches.

And while Shick actually believes Bieksa should have had the instigator called on him, there is no automatic suspension assessed to a player in that situation.

“They [the Hawks] were asking for it, but he wouldn’t have missed a game anyway,” said Shick. “The rule was designed to make sure those guys who get no minutes don’t come out at the end of the game and get involved. It wasn’t designed to target guys who play the game.”

lol at this offside thing... who cares.. the entire game i thought was poorly officiated so let's all move on and focus for tonights game. The team didn't play good last game and hope they come out on fire tonight.

Also, i'd like to see us getting calls go our way for once.:hotbaby:

orange7 04-21-2011 09:52 AM

w/e.

the nucks had to fly back to Vancouver anyways.

The hawks now have to pay airfares to fly to Vancouver and fly back to chicago with their heads down.

Ch28 04-21-2011 09:54 AM

I fully expect a few 'make up calls' for the whole offside fiasco from last game.

spoon.ek9 04-21-2011 10:01 AM

i don't want this game decided by make up calls. i want the canucks to play their best game and knock the hawks onto a golf course!

Greenstoner 04-21-2011 10:45 AM

It's different during the regular season - the refs have to make those calls in the playoffs.

Obviously it's not a huge deal as it's done with, but hopefully nothing else of this nature happens from here on out.

Gh0stRider 04-21-2011 11:17 AM

@FarhanLaljiTSN: Seabrook is out tonight. Lineup stays the same for Blackhawks vs Canucks

PornMaster 04-21-2011 11:19 AM

Hopefully the blueline plays like game 1 2 and 3!!!!!!

game 4 was a total meltdown seriously.

“We're excited about playing in front of the home fans,” said Kesler. “That gets us amped up. We're going to play real physical tonight.”

I just know this. Last time the Canucks gave up 7 goals to the hawks, they went on a 17-2-3 run in the next 21 games.

Seriously, people that don't check this thread like every day shouldn't be allowed to post pics or news articles. People keep reposting the same shit that's been posted like days ago... which on this thread, is like 20 pages back.

I suggest people to go back and scan through each page if you miss some pages. There's a lot of news that get covered quickly on this thread.
