Yep. Well, the way I saw it this year around, Kes was going to carry over some momentum from the regular season and pot 1 or 2 goals and contribute a bit. Burrows is just having another lackluster playoff run. Weak forecheck tonight, no hits, poor passing/dump and chase plays. But an overall collective failure tonight.

Someone really, really needs to step up for game 6. The past 2 games have been pretty much unacceptable for a team that wants to win the cup. Vancouver has the team to win the cup - the fans know it, the coaches know it, the players know it - it's just a matter of actually making it happen. This has been the same old story for Vancouver, and I really hope they don't piss it away. This is the best team I have ever watched and I'll be pretty disheartened if we suffer a first round knockout, especially when we had Chicago on their heels. The team is loaded with talented players who all have the capability, they just need to put the heart we've all seen before into their game.
For some of these guys, nearing the end of their careers, this might be their last chance at a cup and they need to work for it. The Stanley Cup Playoffs are the pinnacle of many hockey players' careers, and I would like nothing but success for every player on the team.
When your best player on the ice is a rookie who has never played an NHL playoff game before, you know something is up. The Sedins don't look like back to back Art Ross winners, Kesler and Burrows seem fairly ineffective, the fourth line is really doing nothing but taking penalties. This isn't the team we saw during the regular season or even the first 3 games and I really, really hope that they take a serious look at what's going on and leave it all on the ice.
I'm also confused as to why AV decided it would be smart to put Rome in, over Ballard who has been solid throughout the entire playoffs? 10:27 TOI, and he's a -2? That's just brutal, especially since Ballard, through 4 games, has not been scored against, and has had shots and hits to boot. Maybe he had the flu or something, but I'm sure he would have battled through if there was anything. The entire defensive core has looked extremely soft the past two games, and what was with the 3-4 breakaways this game? We need to tighten up defensively, stop pinching at stupid times, make that first breakout pass and show the league that we have the best defensive core out there. Like I said before, we just need to wake up.
I'll believe in blue until the very last second, I'm just hoping the Canucks wake up and realize the opportunity they have in front of them and really make something of it!
From the 2009 playoffs, but hey, it still applies to Sunday!
Way to ruin the start of an awesome long weekend, Canucks!
If they lose this series it'll be the worst melt down I"ve seen in the 18 years that I've watched this team play, and it may very well be the last for me to closely follow these guys because there's just too much emotional disappointments to have to take, from something that's supposed to be ENTERTAINING, something that I do outside of work that's supposed to be FUN, but instead it's causing me absolute frustration because there is NOTHING I can do about it to make it better.
People might say "hey take it easy, the players are human, and they make mistakes and have feelings too!" Sure! but there's a reason why you're paid millions of dollars every year to play this game because you're SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO HANDLE THAT PRESSURE and be able to elevate above all others - why else would people pay money to watch these games?
I think there may be a small chance of people rioting if we lose game 7... the frustration level is EXTREMELY high right now in this city - it's like a ticking time bomb waiting to explode, from all these years of absolute disappointments from their hockey team.
God... 5 hours after the game and I"m STILL steaming from the loss. Sigh. They didn't even put up a fight. Not one bit. Where's the leadership? Where's the motivators? Where's the coaching?
Fuck this bullshit. I'm too mad right now to talk anymore hockey.

I think everyone is mad about how not a fuck is being given by the team and the terrible effort
in addition, the frustration is not from losing the game. its the playoffs, we are playing a team that won the Stanley cup last year. Its the fact that we lost back to back 7-2 and 5-0 games. It wasn't even close, after the 3rd goal everyone looked as if they were ready to pack their bags and take it to the next game already.
I've been a Canuck fan for a long time and I must say, tonight's game was one of the most disappointing games in a long time. It was more disappointing than the Game 7 loss to Minnesota in 2003 and almost as disappointing as Game 7 in 1994. As a Canuck fan for almost 20 years, I'm used to disappointment. But this year was supposed to be different.
I'm absolutely befuddled how a team can fail to show up 2 games in a row. You can see it in their eyes: the team is done. How ironic is the latest NHL Playoff commercial featuring the Canucks? History does come in threes: only this year, the Blackhawks will defeat the Canucks 3 years in a row and be the fourth team in NHL history to come back from a 3-0 series deficit.
AV is done after this year. I can't believe that he has the gall to pledge that Luongo will start in Game 6.
Don't forget there are 3 more rounds after this ... if they can't handle the first round against an 8th seeded team this season (even though they are Stanley cup winners) how can they get pass even more stanley cup hungry teams

I'm so frustrated with the teams effort I cant even bear to visit tsn.ca/hfboards or even watch sportscentre.
Werd.
Losses would've been fine if it weren't for the fact that the last 2 games weren't anywhere near the vicinity of even "being close." It's one thing to see a team take a spanking; it's another to see a President's Trophy team take "the spanking"; and twice; back to back.
Like most of you, the thing that frustrates the shit out of me the most is the effort. Down a few goals and it seemed like we just gave up - like we surrendered.
I was all excited when I read about Kes saying they were going to go back to the physical game they played in the first two games but nothing. Yeah, a few decent hits here and there but nothing to really send the message and change the flow of momentum. I was a big defender of him and Burr not putting up points cause they were working the D but ...where's the D now?
Yeah, you can say AV should've played Ballard, arrange the lines differently, Schneids should get the start Sunday, etc. Sure but the way I see it, it shouldn't matter. Our team has the skill set to beat the Hawks handily.
I think the problem lies with poor mindset/weak mental toughness, failure of the coaching staff to recognize what the players need to hear, instruction to get them back on track and bad goaltending (again, cause they're in his head). It's like we've gone into the last 2 games with no plan and when we fall behind or the plan fails, the floodgates open and we have zero response. We need to adapt and see the situation for what it is.
Recognition - We can shut these fuckers down in one game. ONE GAME!!!
Direction - Stay on track and work the plan...til the end.
Inspiration - Make them realize that they're more than capable of achieving the goal. They might be down in the shit right now but nothing is stopping us from getting up, fighting and succeeding. Don't let the fear of losing get in the way.

This is the stupidest thing I've ever read.

The Canucks have faced 3-1 deficits before (against the Jets, Flames, Blues, Rangers) and the common element to all of these series was that those teams had a will to win.
I've seen none of it over the last 2 games and there is no evidence that the team will turn it around on Sunday or Tuesday.
Most of us who've played sports competitively shit the bed sometimes with a bad game, race, etc. But, I bet most of us never come up with 2 terrible games, races, etc. in a row unless you're dealing with injuries. You might not win the second game, but you always put in a better effort. With the Canucks, there is simply no explanation to have 2 bad games in a row with absolutely no effort at the biggest time of the year. What's most obvious is that the team has failed mentally. Where does the blame lie? Does it lie in the Sedins and Kesler? Does it lie in the coaching staff? Who knows? But, Gillis' stomach must be really turning as the core parts of the team he has heavily invested in have now failed 3 years in a row.
You know what pissed me off more than anything? Watching the post-game comments when Lu stood there in the locker room and said that a loss is a loss in the playoffs, makes no difference if it's 5-0 or overtime loss.
FUCK THAT NOISE LU!!!!
Yah it makes absolutely no difference whether you lose 7-2 and 5-0 instead of 3-2 in OT??? How about psychologically you asshole?????
That guy is so cocky and arrogant... which is a whole lot different than being CONFIDENT... Luuuuuuu thinks his shit never stinks. I want to see him staring at the floor, unable to look a reporter in the eye and just saying grimly that he needs to play better... not sitting there with a "I don't give a fuck, I'm a gold medal winner" look on his face just assuming he can stop anything and if he doesn't it's because someone was screening/tipping/perfect shotting.
