Nissan Versa. It's not as sporty as the Fit but it is cheaper.

thanks for the repo link .. will consider some of the models and make you post there

not a fan of nissan, I was looking into it and spend some time researching the other day, it just does not appeal to me anymore, I don't know why

ford fiesta definitely hot!!! I am excited that it finally goes on sale here... I wish their price point will be in the cheapest brand new car category ... I am talking about this price point
http://www.redflagdeals.com/deals/ma...be_from_12865/

keep it coming guys..
but I think we exhaust our option already keep it coming anyway if you have an opinion

rondo is so expensive, I couldn't figure out why.. their 2007 still fetch $19,000 on craigslist. I am guessing they are on high demand low supply maybe?

thank you thank you

Any reason you are looking at a Mazda5 instead of a Mazda3? If you are looking at the Fiesta, then you can also look at the Mazda2 whenever that comes out.

I'll tell you why you don't like the Versa, it's because it's boring and doesn't really do much for the eye...but for point a-b transportation, with good reliability and excellent fuel economy, it's pretty hard to beat. I would get one instead of a Yaris.

I agree with downhiller's recommendation of the Elantra touring. Lots of warranty and they are pretty decent nowadays.

OP Depending on what you plan to do with the car, I would advise AGAINST a Matrix. The engine (1.6 I4 from the Corolla) is simply not enough given the car's weight and "purpose". I've driven my girlfriend's Matrix (2008 XR) with 4 pieces of luggage in the back and 3 adults (including myself), and it had serious problems going uphill (the knight stretch northbound after the bridge to be exact) and onto highways - it is also quite noisy.

On the other side, if you are looking for a very "light on gas" car just to go to work with, the Matrix would be a good choice, whereas if you are planning to haul cargo or carry passengers all the time, there are plenty of other choices which will smoke the matrix.

just my 2c

What are you using the car for?

How many people are you generally going to have in your car?

Do you have to carry a lot of stuff in your car?

What are you looking to get out of the car? Fast, Reliable etc.

Kind of hard for us to give you our opinions on something that's this general in my opinion... but here's what I would get hatchback wise for myself:

the car is for family use with 4 person and up
no I don't have to carry a lot of stuff - typical stuff for typical family of 4
and I am looking for reliability, fuel economy, good resale value

thank you

My sister bought an Elantra Touring last year. She absolutely loves it. I drove it once, a little underpowered on a low end, but it is really roomy and has lots of cargo space if that is what you are looking for.

The OP might want to prioritize and define his needs. eg your driving route (hilly etc), your driving style, how picky are you with fit and finish etc. Not to mention how long you want to keep it (especially for CVT based cars like Versa, the transmissions are very expensive).
