+1 but I think E90/E92/E93 M3 will go down as classic for other reasons though. First road going NA V8 M3, last Naturally Aspirated M3, Last V8 M3, last 4 door body M3 (rumour no 4door M3 for the F30 Generation)

and damn, what an engine, 8750rpm redline which is higher than F430's V8

^ True, styling wise I think the next gen (F30 3 Series) will win over, as is the case for me for the F01 7 series and F10 5 Series. The E90 generation 3 series was never really a looker. However, as a technical exercise, the E90 gen M3 despite its 80k+ price tag is really a bargain price sports car rather than a souped up 3 series

I was looking at a used F430 and Gallardo from the US but after doing some research it wasn't worth it because parts and services would anal rape you in the long run. It would make sense to pay the extra money and get a low mileage, a year or two old exotic. And on the topic of Gallardo's, my uncle owns a few dealerships in the Bay Area and he got a LP560 in a trade in, he was willing to sell it to me for $145,000(US). The car only had 3000km's on it but it was a 6 speed. I think I'll be getting rid of both my cars next year and getting something exotic from the US unless the Canadian prices come down a little more or I decide to just lease because Weissach has rates of 4.9%.

1) relatively low cost of entry - 996 GT3s have dropped in value allot since the intro of the 997.2 GT3 ($160K)
2) exclusivity - rarer to see a GT3 than it is a ferrari 360 or gallardo
3) performance/feel - really second to none. Best bang for your buck. In the same league performance wise as an older F430 or lambo
4) reliability - car is arguably more reliable than a Honda. Nothing goes wrong on the car because it is over built for the track....change the fluids, pads, rotors and tires....that's it
5) lack of modding required - this is the first car that really doesn't require mods...factory coilovers, oem roll cage, oem Recaro leather racing seats. I have spent less than $1K on mods.
Is your 04 GT3 in black color with RUF shift knob, silver insert on the Recaro?
If so it was my friend's car.
He spent approx. $8k on mods for this car and it's extremely fast.

You would have to get your car serviced in Seattle but it is worth it. 560's are 200K+ up here.

A number of people in their 20s can, but it would be a stupid decision. you would end up like that guy who drove his lambo across the states and ended up with more debt than the car was worth.

see her getting slammed in the back seat. That would be a good selling feature that the Lambo can't match up with.

There's nowhere to service a Lambo/Ferrari here in LM? Or they simply don't deal with imports?

I'm planning to get a good AM DB9 or maybe Vantage V12 from the States when I get tired of my E93, so I'm curious about the maintenance and stuff on exotics...

^ From what I've heard, the dealers make it hard to import the exotics in from states.
Especially that letter of recall which I believe, needs to come from an authorized Canadian dealer (Lambo Canada). And they are against importing... so good luck!
Having said that, they won't service your lambo if its imported up is what I've heard.

It's possible to import a Lambo, truth me I've been looking into this for the last few months.

This is from April of this year;

Just received the inspection form from RIV for my Gallardo.

Will probably get the inspection completed this weekend.

Steps I took to get to this stage:

1 - recall clearance letter from Lambo dealership and portal print out stating no outstanding recalls to be performed.
2 - daytime running lights activated by Lambo dealership.
3 - TFX International took care of the transport into Canada.
4 - submitted Form 1 to RIV with recall clearance docs.
5 - received federal inspection form.

Next step = Canadian Tire for the inspection and plate it.

More information;

Nope. Tell your friend to save himself the 2000 bones and put that toward future service.
As long as the plate on the driverside door jamb is there that says the vehical meets all US Safety Standards is there... and it should be, thats all you need in the form of compliance.
Get the current owner or the sellling dealership to get a service department printout that states there are no outstanding recalls on the car. This should be done free of charge.
The only mod you need is the DRL lights... tell your friend to get that done in the States and have it part of the purchase deal because it is a very cheap mod.
Then take the car to Canadian Tire to have the safety inspection done. Don't go to Lambo Toronto/Vancouver or Scotties!!!!

"Recall Letter" and "Compliance Letter" are two seperate things.
YES you need a "Recall Letter" or dealer printout that says there are no outstanding recalls on the vehical.
NO you don't need a "Compliance Letter" which says the vehical meets Safety Standards because the plate in the door jamb says that it does.

You have not needed a compliance letter since the Canadian bumper standard was harmonized with the US bumper standard... and basically the rest of the world too! So the sticker in the door jamb that says the vehical meets US safety standards is all thats needed because the Candian Safety standards were harmonized when the bumpers went through

My friend in Calgary got his EPA/DOT recall letter from Lambo USA. It cost $2000 and this is what it says...I deleted his info and VIN number.

This guy had a issue with the door sticker so he replaced it with the correct one and his car passed. Also some guy from Alberta imported a LP560 and his car passed in 2 mins.

you are looking at more than 15g/ year to keep the car in good condition. oil change is every 2000km. clutch change every 15000km and you will change tires every year and many other stuff.

I was thinking about buying a Murc about 4 years ago or so when I first started making some big money at my job. I wanted to lease the car and I decided against it because it was obviously way above what I was able to afford.

Moving forward 3 and a bit years and making more money, I tackled a gallardo which was ironic because I was making 3 times as much money but I decided on a car that was 3 times cheaper in price.

I only had it a few months and sold it because I didn't like the car. It wasn't a bad car at all, it just wasn't what I had built it up to be in my head and it fell short of my expectations. I also knew that the costs in my first year were going to be $15,000ish to fix some things that were ready to be done.

I did a lot of research before buying my car which was through 6speed online and they were saying expect to pay about $5 per mile if you factor in gas insurance and upkeep of the car.

It's like any high priced special item. Take a boat for example. A boat for a million dollars isn't what I'd worry about. It's everything else.

If you're buying this kind of car, you better be making some serious money and I'm not talking about $80k a year (unless you're living at home which is another story in itself).
