Garage Door VS black paint .. garage door won So I'm guessing I should Clean it with a kitchen soap (dawn?) to get rid of any wax thats behind, buy some automotive primer and apply it in 2 light coats, wait for it to dry, apply touch up paint in a series of layers. Then, wait 'till it sticks out slightly, and wet sand with the highest grit sandpaper I can get, then hand polish, wax? Any insight here? It sucks because it happened on a curved portion of the hood, for those who care, I wasn't the one operating the garage door lol. Can anyone recommend me a local place to get A good automotive primer for cheap, high grit sand paper, and a good Cut/Polish compound that I can apply by hand. I wanna stick to non specialty stores (ie Homedepot/Canadian Tire), Thanks. oh yeah, here's a pic, as you can see the metal is visible http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/770...6232006.th.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us I found this, is this on the money as far as the standard procedure for this goes? http://www.autoeducation.com/carcare/paintchips.htm I know it won't be seamless, I'll likely be getting the hood, rear bumper, and some other pieces painted at the same time. |
I think what you want to do is a little overkill. Just get some touch up paint and call it a day. If you attempt to sand it down, primer, paint it yourself, and don't know what you are doing, you will probably make it worse. |

It wasn't my car either that it happened on, so I've got to get it fixed asap. |
I suggest using a sledgehammer. It's always worked for me....just not the way i expect it to. |
