| How do I fix this?
I was swapping my summer wheels yesterday when I noticed a lugnut which was very hard to remove. It did not loosen up as I was loosening the nut. When I got it off, the thread on the lug was worn and I wasn't able to get the lugnut back on. How can I get it fixed?
thanks in advance |

Sounds like it was crossthreaded the last time it was put on. You can try and run a tap over it and see if that works but you most likely will have to buy a new stud and replace the damaged one.
Berz out.

just about any shop could do it, just need to hammer out the old stud and hammer in the new one. provided studs on drum brakes are the same on disc... i haven't worked on drums before.

I had the same problem and ran a thread die over it and it worked wonders. Cleaned the threads perfectly and didnt ruin the stud. You're case might be different and it might be best to change out the whole stud. |
