talked to alex at the syndicate yesterday and they are mad booked for a/c work. no surprise because of the hot weather (which is what killed my mom's a/c... which is now my problem of course ), so plan at least 1-2 days in advance if you need to get this repaired/fixed.

jegglez: call speedsyndicate and ask them for recommendations if they cannot help you.

Speed Syndicate phoned me yesterday and said their AC machine was down, and couldn't take my appointment.

I ended up going to AutoDOC in Richmond. Took a little over an hour. Starts @ $120.

^ when no cold air blowing out from your AC ?

If you buy a recharging kit.
It include a gauge, it will tell you your AC comp. pressure?

When I did mind couple weeks ago, the gauge show only at 10+
Then I recharged it back between 30 - 40.

Be careful and be clear of what you want.

First thing you want to do is to do a dye test, which you can get from Canadian tire. You feed the dye into the system and use the system. Then check the engine bay for UV leaks. Once you are okay, you can think about refilling.

If your system is R134a (any car after 1993-4), you can just fill it up with R134a coolant.

Anything before you have R12, you can either retrofit (cost more), which means upgrading to R134a compatible components (compressors, fittings etc).

or use a "universal coolant".. just note those coolant are usually hydrocarbons aka propane. Once you decide to mix R134a and those hydrocabon ones, your R134a are no good anymore. Some places recycle and buys coolant that is left in the system.

The two options explains a huge variance in price and labour. So be clear on what you are asking for.

The are plenty of brands universal coolant brands out there.. there is even a Blazer parked outside KMS, the guy installs everything for you on spot and grabs the consumables from the store.

Remember R134a will be phased out starting 2011.
