Where to buy IPhone 3GS in HK Going to visit Hong Kong end of this month (from Taiwan) and my dad want me to bring him back a Iphone 3GS (He doesn’t want the Iphone 4) Anyways, I need suggestion on where to get the phone (legit places) So far all I can see online are Iphone+plan prices. Can anyone tell me the updated prcing on just the phone in HK? Or a link where I can find out? Thanks! |
Well you can buy it at mini malls in hong kong where all they sell is phones and they range in a bunch or price, the best I can do is give you an address to the mall if you would like and the rest is up to you. |

I'll be staying here, so anywhere close would be good. Thanks again. |
I cant find the name of the mall but this is a description of how to get there... The mall is at: Mong Kok If you come out of the MTR exit D something... I think maybe D2 The one that comes out on Argyle street aiming away from Nathan road. You walk across the street and past the Gome etc, then cross the next street with quite a number of red mini bus, then halfway down the block there is the main entrance, side entrances on each side of the block as well with SAGEM on top of the doors. Also : if u're shopping at that mall, watch for (1) quoting u one price than asking for extra for an English version instead of the Japanese or Chinese one. THIS IS NONSENSE Tell them u'll be fine with the Chinese version and you can change the language setting yourself. (2) selling you a second-hand phone -- THIS IS VERY COMMON and very difficult to check, as they wipe down the phone quite well. When you get the phone, check to make sure the IMEI on the body matches that on the box, check that the gold plated battery connectors are not scratched ONE IOTA and that the battery is genuine. if any bells go off, leave. (3) selling you a phone with no local warranty (a grey market phone). The above applies to digital cameras etc as well. The phones there have a really good price and up to 30 - 40% off from Broadway or Fortress You can try bargaining and get some money off for sure. It's at Mong Kok so just a few stations away! |
just get it directly from apple |
just goto fortress or broadway |
Can't check the battery as iphone's are internal battery. He should check the apple connector. Also the factory screen protector should be there. Quote:

You'll find that in the mini-malls that most stores will use this trick, but in the end they will have the same price, just that the posted window prices differ. For a peace of mind at a price, just go to bigger legitimate stores like Broadway and Fortress. Most of the smaller stores can be risky. |
isnt iphone 2x more in hk than it is here? |
The iphone is more expensive upfront when you buy it outright rather than over a period of 3 years, but it should be a lot cheaper overall. The only issue is, does the 3GS sold in HK support the 3G networks in Canada? |

Also, the ones selling in HK are factory unlocked like our current "new" 8GB 3GS |
The 3G networks here (and everywhere else in the world except USA/Canada) operate on a different frequency, so I guess the 3GS has all four of the main UMTS bands? I know the iphone 4 does, but not sure about the 3GS. If so, that's pretty good Anyway if I were to buy one, it would be from here. |
Only the iPhone 4 has quad UMTS bands the iPhone 3GS and 3G only has UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz). But for GSM all iPhone models have Quad bands. To OP Here's the Fortress store price for iPhone 3GS models http://www.fortress.com.hk/fortress/.../Sf_render.jsp and here's the street price and other small store prices (water and official product) for 16GB http://www.price.com.hk./product.php?p=112059 32GB http://www.price.com.hk./product.php?p=112266 |
Thanks for all the help guys! I will check out those stores for sure when I go over. |
