Anyone know if Oakridge or PC Apple store will get stock tomorrow? I might plan on going there early and grab one.

How will i be charged?
price - discount + tax - fido dollars?

I am pretty sick of all the repeated questions in this thread. This page should answer all the questions. Please read it before you ask another noob question.

I understand how you feel it is not a big deal to you. It isn't a big deal to me as well about have the coolest gadget in the world as soon as possible, but I am currently still using the 2G iphone and it is slow as f*ck. I have been waiting long enough to upgrade my phone and I want to upgrade now.

I'm using my 2g as well. I ordered a replacement battery as my current one dies SOOO fast.

13% --> use msn for a few minutes --> phone shuts off

Anyone get one from the Apple store while on a retention plan from Rogers? Don't want them to mess up my plan while doing the HUP.

haha fair enough. You get a pass. I'm talking about all the 3G and 3GS users...

gilly 08-05-2010 07:37 AM

so does that mean i have to line up with everyone else if i want to buy a macbook and not an iphone from the apple store?

vash13 08-05-2010 07:43 AM

Nope. You can just walk right in. There is only a lineup for special people. Apple knows better.

not fully true either... i'm on 3g. My silence and power button is broken. So bad that it takes me a long time to turn my phone into silent and it randomly vibrates all the time... I keep thinking I'm getting messages... its due for an update

vash13 08-05-2010 08:47 AM

Just came back from Oakridge. They are all sold out by that I mean the line is longer than the amount of stock they have. It's nice to know that the Oakridge Apple is handing out cards to the amount they have in stock for the people in the line.

ditto..and i thought i was being smart by showing up 30 mins before opening..WRONG!...i went to PC afterwards - doesn't look like they're handing out cards as some people in the line this morning also waited yesterday and didn't get anything...the line was up to the end of H&M and i was informed it would probably take 4 hours from that point..crazy..

also, i wanted to note, on tuesday, oakridge apple store had probably 20 people working..maybe more..today, it appeared they only had half of that!..or maybe it was still early when i went, who knows..

Mikli 08-05-2010 10:07 AM

This is just too crazy! I'm giving up and wait until next month.

vash13 08-05-2010 10:07 AM

How long was the lineup 30 mins before opening?

vash13 08-05-2010 10:21 AM

I think i'm gonna give up and wait till next month..

^ if you are just buying the phone right out without any HUP then why not just order it from the Apple.ca store?
It says the estimated delivery is 3 weeks.

i would estimate there was at least 70ish people in line...they have ropes directing everybody and it already went beyond that - almost to the Bay's entrance..

i think they estimate it will ship out in 3 weeks and depending on level of shipping, it can take another 1-2 weeks...I think most here though are buying it on contract..

stuff99 08-05-2010 12:48 PM

I ordered on Monday. I'm expected to get it into my hands on August 31st.

i was speaking with somebody at fido in regards to that and they advised me to take down information pertaining to the store, time and any other details and let the carrier know..apparently they're not supposed to be doing that...

From the site:

"What are the benefits of buying an unlocked iPhone 4?
1. Saving money when traveling: just buy a local Pay As You Go SIM card and pop it into your iPhone 4. Voila! Good bye expensive roaming charges.
2. Controlling your life again: you won’t have to resign 3 years with the “Big 3″ to get your iPhone. Once you are out of your contract, imagine how great it will feel to be able to switch carriers at a whim–because of better pricing and plans–and not having to accrue expensive cancellation fees.
3. Higher resale value: Factory unlocked iPhones are the holy grails on eBay. There will always be a huge demand for factory unlocked iPhones. Many countries don’t have the iPhone and buying overseas on eBay is their only choice.
4. Upgrading next year will be dead easy: Say the iPhone 5 (or whatever it’s called) is released next year. You purchased the iPhone 4 factory unlocked for $659. You sell your iPhone 4 on eBay (or Craigslist) for $550 (I just checked current completed listings and a 16GB iPhone 3GS was recently sold for $557US). You’re only down $109. That’s cheaper than paying the subsidized carrier $199 price–and you will remain contract free.
5. Worry free iOS updates via iTunes: If your iPhone is unlocked via jailbreaking, every time Apple releases a new iOS update you’re stuck in limbo. You can’t update via iTunes or you’ll lose your unlock. You’re reliant on the iPhone Dev Team for their hard work. Now, if you have a factory unlocked iPhone 4, you can just click update and be on your merry way. The unlock will remain forever. No more waiting."

Is this sound logic?
