The phone will be locked to the provider you sign with if you purchase it ANYWHERE except the Apple Store.

Demand is huge in Asian countries. Taiwan, China, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippine.

I think this has been posted before, but most stores are gearing towards new sign-ups rather than renewal of contracts.

A friend of mine stepped into a store and they said "No iPhones available", and then he said he was there to sign a new contract, they immediately brought one out.

Commission! People will do anything to get the most $$, but what else can us consumers do?

you shoulda checked out phone booth at oakridge...I was there around 2:30ish and they told me they had a few 32gbs for fido

i ended up lucking out and got a 16gb for rogers =D at the rogers store there

There's serious shortage right now.

China will be selling iphone4 in Sept, but it will be much more expensive due to
the heavy tax. Cell phone providers have announced the price is going to be
around $850cdn in China (only if you order it with their dataplan). I don't think
there's problem making good profit from them.

People sell iphone4 at cellphone malls in either HK or China.

alot of the stores have a waitlist and once they get a shipment its basically sold out

Yeah, except all the stores are just selling them first come first serve. The rogers store I got mine at had a waitlist of over 100 people, but I walked in when they got three 32GB's and was the 2nd one. Third was gone within 10 mins to the guy behind me in line.

I'm thinking of ordering some (one to keep and sell the rest). But afraid the demand won't be as high in 3 weeks and it'll just be troublesome trying to get rid of them at a decent price.

I was thinking of ordering one online and selling the locked Rogers. I think I'll probably get the iPhone from Apple quicker than if I looked around locally.

So can someone confirm that if I go in an Apple store, I can use my Fido Dollars and whatever credit I have? I called in Fido/Retentions and they all said different things. Retentions said I'm able to buy the phone full price at Apple, and my next invoice will give me the credit back or something?? :S

if you sign your contract with a provider then it'll be locked to that particular provider. That goes for signing contract under Fido/Rogers/Bell/Telus at Wirelesswave AND Apple Store.

If you sign or HUP at Apple Store then the phone will be locked to the provider you signing / HUP.

The only way to get an unlock iPhone 4 is to pay the full price without any contract or upgrade at Apple Store or buy from Apple website.

Walked past the Wireless Wave stand today at the PNE and the sign said they had iPhone 4's available. Dunno if they'll have any on Sunday.

I'm in Hk right now, the supply is no where near as tight as say a week ago. You can order from most kiosk in hk and get it within a week. Yes they still sell for above retail but the profit margin isn't really their for individual sellers anymore compare to say the first 2 week of launch.

Keep in mind that while asian has a huge demand there are also source coming from all over the world. Europe, US, Australia, Japan, not to mention it can be software unlocked now making the supply even less tight

I've heard that unlocked iphones bought from Apple.ca do not include microsim cards, yet unlocked iphones bought from Apple retail stores include one free microsim.

For anyone who bought one off Apple.ca, is there a way to get a free microsim?

iphones from eu, us, jp, aus are considered "water product" (no warranty)
and it's cheaper to buy it in HK. Hongers just love to sell their iphones for
extra hundred bucks. Sell 2 iphone4 = pretty much a free iphone4. Why not?

My manager sold 4 iphones and 1 ipad, he made like $1500cdn profit :drool

man, i finnally have a 3gs from my cuzin to compare the retina display side by side with the regular display.

Oh boy...am i happy with the iphone 4, its a HUGE difference!!!


You guys should definitely check craigslist, i got 5 16gb iphone for 750/each the past few days. Thats about 10$ above retail...
