So uhhhh I just got the package delivered today. I noticed it was a little light so I thought it was another package I was expecting. But it said "Retention" on the front I had to be the iphone but when I turned the box around, it had already been ripped open! All that was inside was the notice and the microsim.

I think someone at UPS jacked the iphone...

If anyone remembers how I might have been getting a 2nd phone from fido for free, I definitely won't anymore 'cause I just called fido regarding the stolen phone and came clean with them and playing dumb as to why they had shipped me a phone when I already got one. I figure if they are going to look deeper into this then they would just find out anyways.

what's the weight listed on the package slip?

The notice slip also mentions the micro sim AND iphone 4

I didn't have my glasses on and just woke up. I got handed the package and placed it aside while I signed. I noticed it was light and in my mind I thought it was one of the other two packages I was expecting (apple bumper case or my skin from zagg.com), both of which are supposed to be light in weight. I didn't realize there was a rip in the package until I was half way up my stairs.

I know it was dumb of me to not realize it beforehand but I guess a UPS guy handing me an already opened package was the last thing I would expect happen.

Um... doesn't that mean if they, in fact, did ship you the second phone, you're now going to be on the hook to pay the $700 for the phone that got stolen out of the package?

my plan was to receive the phone then wait til my next bill to see if they charged me for it at all. If they did then I'll return it. If not, sell for profit or give to my cousin.

Anyways I played dumb and cleared it up with them that I already got a phone from a retail store and was not informed that I was put on any back order (which is true, not a single CSR said they put me down for an iphone other than the first guy but he supposedly fucked up my order).

I dunno how their system works but it's baffling how there is no record on my account of me being on a back order list. I've talked to them 7 times since the 25th, each time trying to fix a problem left behind from the last person.

^ no thats exactly how their system work. No records so if they offer you something and didn't go through with it later you would have no way to proof.

Well that's not entirely true as they do add notes on your account. The first guy I talked to put me down for a 3yr contract. The 2nd guy I talked to looked at my records and saw the 3yr contract but no iphone mentioned. the 3rd person saw the notes that both put down and added stuff herself. so and and so on...

So if they look at the notes on my account they should see that I was not put down for an iphone.

hey guys, i started to line up at 6:30am this morning, i was 9th person in line. But when the doors opened at around 8:00 - 8:30am, I did a count again and i was like 14th person in line!

Apparently, this guy lined up for his gf (his gf came at like 8am), which was stupid. So yah, I got myself an Iphone 4 now. I think everyone who lined up today (around 50 - 60 ppl?) got one. The line up wasnt actually that bad.

Also, the first few ppl who lined up, went there at like 3am. When we got inside, this guy was in front of the line. He said he started lining up at 5am but he was first! He said he was lining up at another entrance, i think the security unlocked that entrance first before they unlocked the entrance where we came in. I didnt bother to ask him, cause he was an asshole. Haha..

If your planning to line up for the iphone, my advice is to line up at around 6ish? the person who lined up in front of me came at 6, the person in front of him, came at like 5.

Forgot to add, people who are upgrading their contract with a provider will have to wait in line. People who are buying the phone full price, gets to go in the store, get the phone, and get out. When I was like the next 3 to go in, I see people almost at the end of the line, going in to purchase the iphone at full price.

if you signed for it pretty sure your on the hook for it..

and the only thing my box had on it was a tiny little print under the barcode saying "customer retentions" no where does it say rogers, etc.

so unless buddy delivers a bunch per day and knows whats in the box, your story seems unlikely..

I don't know how the driver could have not seen that it was already opened. My guess is either he stole it or he played dumb because he didn't want to deal with it.
