| Acer Liquid E
What are your guys thoughts on this phone? I'm looking for a replacement for my iPhone 3G. I was considering the X10, but I'm rather intrigued by the Liquid E. One of the things I didn't like about the X10 was the lack of multi-touch, which is something the Liquid has. I know some of you will go "But it's an Acer!" and that's fair enough... their computers aren't exactly the greatest out there. However, this phone seems to be the best iPhone-style match I'm able to get through Rogers... at least, as far as I can tell.
Thoughts on the Liquid?

I just got my X10 yesterday. I contemplated about returning it (you have 14 days 0minutes talk time to do so) just because of the lack of multitouch. But after forcing myself to live with it for a solid day (today), I hardly miss the feature. One main thing now is that I can operate maps comfortably with one finger, whereas on my iPhone 3G I had to fumble and either use two fingers, or do some weird move with my right hand.
Nevertheless, the thought of returning the X10 has greatly decreased
Sure you will be missing out on some games such as any of the emulators (you can't do running jumps in mario world, for example... but for me, phones are only for light casual gaming, and the lack of emulators or hardcore games don't really bother me.

the acer liquid E uses an unclocked snapdragon
the phone i believe has been rooted
its running 2.1 android...so its ahead of the x10 in terms of that
its more complete google experience over the x10

is there any speculation as to what Android phones Rogers will get in say half a year's time? I want to love the X10, it's beautiful in every way, but the more I think about the lack of multi-touch the more I want to return it again and use my Hardware Upgrade later...

I hope the Droid X gsm comes soon to someone. Acer Liquid E was one of the phones I've been thinking of before I bought my milestone.

^^ Yeah, the Galaxy S was the other phone I was wanting, but considering I don't know when Rogers will be getting it, I might have to pass it by for now. I need a new phone sooner rather than later.

Galaxy S hardware is much better than the Nexus one. But Nexus One will always win in OS updates.

I got the X10 used it for about a day now. Is not bad but I think I might just exchange it for a blackberry bold or the Accer E. I mean the X10 is great and all and looks good but texting on it seems not as smooth as the Iphone 3GS(both touchscreen but Iphone's Keypad seems more responstive and doesn't seem to lag.).

^ Im trading it in and waiting it out until the Galaxy S comes out in September...
I mean, the X10 is a damn pretty phone, I love it and all - but if waiting for one month gives me a much nicer set of hardware (AMOLED, 5 point touch recognition, better processor and battery life), I'd rather wait.
I wanted to give SE a second chance (I left them after I got fed up with their boring interfaces, and heard that the X1 was a complete screw up), but the X10 is just lacking in some respects

wow lots of hate on x10. To be honest, I've never even had the need to use multitouch.
The build quality of the Acer is pretty bad. It also has a smaller screen which I don't like. Also if you try to overclock the processor on the Acer to 1Ghz it apparently overheats and force closes a lot.
I'd wait for the Galaxy S if I didn't have the X10 already.
A fix for the shitty keyboard on ANY android phone is to install HTC_ime keyboard.

But for texting it seems blackberry is better at this. Also as I mention earlier the touch screen is not as senestive as the Iphone. Is not a bad phone at all.

the X10 is REALLY beautiful. I really like it. As I buy phones with cameras to replace my Point and Shoots (which I only use when I don't have my DSLR with me), the X10 was a perfect choice too... but seeing how my N82 with it's 5MP camera is already doing plenty good for me right now, I'd rather wait for about a month and get the Galaxy, which has AMOLED, and a better battery life amongst other things.
I too, never saw the use of multitouch, until I booted up the SNES emulator in the X10 and tried to give Super Mario World a go... without multitouch, even the simple task of a running jump was a problem...

I picked up the Acer yesterday, for $ 29.99 you can not go wrong.
Ok I had to update my plan with data, but got to keep my EPP plan that I signed when I got my N95.
Between the N95 and the Liquid E I like the Liquid.

the os is a bit slow on that phone. Was playing around with one in HK while I was there...the Samsung S is a much better phone overall i think.
