Being a Quadband phone, I can use it in Europe and China/Hk, provided I have it unlocked first, and have a Euro/china/HK sim, right?

MarkyMark 09-01-2010 09:53 PM

I hope Rogers doesn't lock this thing up bad, I don't want to root but if I can't sideload I'm doing it

I stand corrected. lol

right.

I hope the new updates will be out soon. My galaxy is starting to show the lag issue... it's blzing fast when its not a problem, but when it lags it literally stops for 2-3 seconds... annoys the hell out of me.

Flashing an actual i9000 rom might fix this. Check out XDA

Just to clarify, it was 850 first then 1900. I am certain you flipped the two around by mistake and don't blame you for all the frustrations you get from lack of reception. :p

Darthchili any news on release?

willystyle 09-05-2010 07:31 PM

I am on Fido, is there a way that I can get an unlocked Captivate with warranty?

Gnomes 09-05-2010 08:13 PM

^
According to this rfd thread, once it is unlocked, all warranty is voided. Other briefly mention you can try to re-lock it to original carrier. Not sure how that works though cuz if your phone is truly bricked, how to re-lock?

willystyle 09-05-2010 08:24 PM

Yes, thats why I am asking if there is anywhere that sells the CAPTIVATE (OEM UNLOCKED)?

TOS'd 09-05-2010 08:30 PM

^ samsung? lol

MarkyMark 09-05-2010 08:49 PM

Rogers is taking it's sweet time giving a release date since they announced it like a month ago

samsung's OEM unlocked galaxy s is the i9000. don't think u'll ever find an OEM unlocked captivate, unless rogers will sell unlock codes to their customers like bell is doing. that way u'll still have warranty since rogers is providing the unlocks?

willystyle 09-05-2010 11:38 PM

Rogers won't sell unlock codes. :(

!MiKrofT 09-05-2010 11:47 PM

I don't think they'll warranty the phone if you're not a rogers customer.

just got the tmobile version, it's sweet! it's too thin and wide though, i'll be sticking on a thick casemate tough case to make it feel better haha.

Why would you need to buy unlock codes from Rogers?

There is an unlock program from XDA that will extract the codes for you and it's not even hard at all.

You can also re-lock your phone to work on a specific carrier so you can still have your warranty intact.

Anyways, it's all in the XDA forums which was posted a page or two back.

Yeah, I am not a fan of the Vibrant version. The Captivate has a metal back and doesn't look like an iPhone. Overall though, it's still a bad ass phone that does a lot out of the box.

J32A2-S 09-06-2010 08:37 PM

I am using the ATT Captivate on Rogers network. Its an amazing phone.

I can confirm unlocking was as easy as turning it on...connect to wifi...download SGS unlock..run it and get the code...enter SIM card..key in unlock code

Took less than 5 minutes

willystyle 09-06-2010 10:48 PM

Can anyone confirm that they can actually re-lock the phone for warranty purposes?
