hey why don't you try bell stores...the online site says no contract is $499 so the official bell stores have no right to not sell you

Went by Crystal Mall in burnaby and some store, same chain as the one at Tinseltown, said they had stock but was only going to sell with a contract.

Then the guy went on to say if he could sell without a contract, the phone was $600, Holy fcuker's are a gouging. Then he went on about how I should cancel my contract with Rogers and switch over to Bell. In the end, it would be cheaper since.

lol. my friend had a similar experience at Bell Aberdeen Centre. The guy wanted $800. WTF? Can this be reported to BBB?

Yeah Bell same as Telus. I remember when I tried to buy something off contract they were like. Oh yeah we get a "Rebate" after we activate the phone for you even if you don't renew a contract. That's why we charge you an additional $150. I'm like.. screw you I'll just order it from Telus website cause your full of BS.

@ $600, that is definately NOT gouging.
It's pretty close to market price, if you take into account the availability of the Galaxy S varients in Canada, it's probably cheaper than it should be.

Take for example ordering it from the states @ $550 USD.
That makes $563 Canadian + HST = $630.50

And that's with free shipping (newegg).


Now $800, that's gouging.

Bell at Surrey Central Mall = No contract. No phone.
Futureshop at Surrey Central Mall = No contract. No phone.
Bestbuy at Surrey Central Mall = No contract. No phone.
Wirelesswave Langley = No contract. No phone.
Costco = Couldn't get in because I forgot my card at home. Fail.

So I resorted to CraigsList and met the guy at Metrotown and got a brand new one for $550.

My back is sore from sitting in the car so damn long.

EDIT: Honestly guys, it'll be tough to find one to buy no contract. With the lack of iPhone4's coming along and the dealers selling Galaxy S' like hot cakes ... they are unlikely to sell off contract. Besides, we all know that's how they make their commission.

the new launcherpro update made the phone lagless. I dunno what they did, but i love it!

I'm really amazed how popular the galaxy s has become. It's bullshit that everyone is hoarding phones unless you sign a contract. Hopefully this long delay means that Rogers will get a shitload of them once October does hit. If it launches with iPhone 4 quantities it's going to suck.

Come on. $499 plus tax on the Bell web site. $500 on the Best Buy website. $500 usd on the AT&T website. Yeah, $600 is gouging imo.

Just called Rogers retention and their notes say late October release. Delay is due to issues at Samsung.

Now I am debating, $550 and buy one off CL, cancel my contract for $500 and go to Bell, or STFU and continue to use my crappy ass Symbian crap E71 while profit $$$$.
