No go, pre-order is for new sign ups only i was told. hardware upgrades and renewals must wait for the phone release date.
Call in and tell them that they treat potential/new customers better than their existing ones and that you don't appreciate being treated like they don't care about keeping your business. I'll bet that if you then say that since they wont allow you to pre-order one, you'll simply cancel your contract then and there and go over to Bell and pick up essentially the exact same phone today, and with a better plan... they'll probably change their tune then.
ok thanks for the info...thats to bad ahhaha i was hoping there would be no tax
where did you find this pricing?
at costco... i got mine from there. Well it's in New York but it's the same at all the costcos. U have to sign up for a plan though, which you can call in to cancel right away.

so if i get the Vibrant its $100 USD for the phone and the $375 to cancel
and the Captivate it is $150 USD +
"New and renewing AT&T wireless customers who enter into a 1- or 2-year Service Commitment on or after June 1, 2010, and include certain specified equipment, have an ETF of $325, less $10 for each full month of Service Commitment completed. Otherwise the ETF is $150, less $4 for each full month of Service Commitment completed."

so $475 + tax i guess....
its $500 to buy at At&t store....
I'd rather spend a little bit more to buy it out right than to jump through all that BS that could potential be a nightmare from hell.

i guess it's different with At&t. With Tmobile, i could just pay $480+tax for a vibrant and sign up for month to month plan which i can cancel with no penalty. Then i can cancel my month to month. Or if i wanted to sign up on a contract, it's $100 for the phone, then $200 early cancellation fee, so the phone woulda been $300. But the teller wouldnt sign me up because I wasn't american.
btw, anyone knw what clock and weather widget is on this guy's homescreen? i know its on a N1 but i've seen it on galaxy s'.
i just tried to pre-order this from rogers with 6GB data and a voiceplan but they turned me away and i'm a new customer. they told me that i need to take a phone now if i order the 6GB with it or else i forfeit my 3 year discount pricing on the hardware and won't be able to do another for 24 months. but then the people ordering on the website taking those other plans can activate now and wait for the phone without forfeiting the discount.
why do they have to make shit so complicated. Just sell the damn phone to everyone the same way. either everyone can pre-order or everyone waits until the release date.

That new Desire HD is the same deal.
I'm tired of waiting on rogers, I'm getting mine shipped in from the states.
After rogers continuously pissing me off, I'm glad I won't have their logo branded on the face of my phone.
They don't deserve my free advertisement.
