The thing is I'm using version 0.8...
so you don't have this lag issue when trying to add applications to the homescreen?

edit:
just uninstalled ONE CLICK LAG FIX and problem is now gone. I then reinstalled it and so far so good...I think

but yeah curious did u guys all use one click or other lag fixes?

Gnomes 10-03-2010 04:02 PM

I am not experiencing any lag yet... only 4 days and counting of use right now.

!MiKrofT 10-03-2010 04:14 PM

Saw someone selling a Samsung Captivate on CL: http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/bn...986055524.html

I actually uninstalled the lag fix before installing LauncherPro. I don't have any noticeable lag other than a couple seconds here and there. Otherwise pretty much instant.

Oleophobic 10-03-2010 09:05 PM

^

can you try this:

try to add applications as a shortcut to the home screen (like I described above) at various times.
Like if you try it now and theres no lag, try it again later, or after doing something else.
My friend who initially told me it was instant after trying it 3-4 times at different times, just told me now that it took 9 seconds to appear after he tried again recently...

Preemo 10-04-2010 10:26 AM

^ I also forgot to mention I was fucking around with the cache and memory settings of LauncherPro. Right now I have the memory setting set to Moderate. And I forgot what I did to the cache. But I did what you asked last night to replicate it and again this morning. No lag.

And yes, I did use the OCLF. But I uninstalled that shit, though because I thought Froyo was being released at the end of the month. Booooo!

Bought:
Samsung Captivate via Amazon.

Issues:
You CANNOT enter "Recovery Mode" to root with "vol up + vol down + power".
Solution, used script found on XDA forums.

Other Issue:
Screen has the faintest blue line.
Starts from 2cm from bottom left, stretching up about 5cm.
It's VERY faint and only shows up on a white background.
I don't think normal people would even notice this, but I am extraordinarily anal.

Advice:
Check your phones from Rogers before walking out the store.
I'll assume you'll have data.
Download "Flashlight", make screen all white, and look for dead pixels, coloration or imperfections.

Now that I finally got my hands on this device, I am one sad panda to have to send it away again. :(

Is anybody getting an incorrect time stamp on their sms messages? The messages I receive are 4 hours behind on the time stamp.

known issue.
I believe there is an app on the market that fixes it.

Gazorcoop 10-04-2010 02:35 PM

Yesterday I purchased one on craigslist from some sketchy guy.. appeared to be missing a battery cover. After some inspection of the phone and software, I have come to a conclusion that this phone was a demo unit.

-cannot put screen in standby
-cannot turn off the phone (without pulling the battery)
-cannot boot into recovery mode
-phone goes automatically into the "animation" of the Galaxy S after 30 sec.

-Baseband: I9000UGJG6
-Kernel: 2.6.29, chounjong.nam@sep-05#2
-Build: ECLAIR.kmchoi.20100715.193952

Do you think Bell would be grateful that I returned it, and maybe..get a free Galaxy S? :p

OriginalJC 10-04-2010 02:44 PM

Gazor, is that also the phone you're trying to sell?
http://www.revscene.net/forums/fs-ft...g-t626479.html

I would not have purchased it with all those issues, unless you got it for dirt cheap

How much did you pay? It looks like the device is kinda screwed. Try doing recovery mode or hard reset it. If it fails, root it. The battery cover is no big deal in my opinion. Just get a case and that should do the trick.

SumAznGuy 10-04-2010 03:01 PM

I was talking to the person who I bought my phone from and we came to the conclusion that people were stealing floor demo's. I mean how can someone be selling a phone with no box, no USB cable, no charger, and most importantly no battery cover.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe there is a master reset you can to it.

did u get the box/manuals with it ? if not it sounds stolen to me. might not have a battery cover cuz the guy prolly ripped it right off and the demo sensors are usually glued onto the cover lol

Gazorcoop 10-04-2010 03:10 PM

I paid a good amount.. about 400.

Did come with the charger but nothing else. looks like a blackberry charger too..

I couldn't boot into recovery mode. i'm pretty sure I need to change the Kernel/baseband. Does anyone have a link to xda on that?

hirevtuner 10-04-2010 04:18 PM

spent the whole day of setting up my captivate...finally got it rooted and did a factory reset, loving the phone

what apps do u guys recommend, general ones

Dood, at $400 dollars and with all the warning signs you STILL bought it?

Come on maaaaaaannnnnn, common sense!!

In a sense, I don't think anyone on XDA has a demo unit. Next course of action, go to XDA and ask for help. Maybe one of the devs can give you a fix. But other than that ... damn.

My customization, most should be free:
-kick ass wall paper (darker the better cuz it may save on batter)
-digital clock (transparent background)
-switchpro widget
-sms time fix
-Jorte calendar (free, can sync with google calander, have a monthly view widget, and control translucency)
-quick tip calculator (for tipping in restaurants and dividing bills)
-XE currency convertor
-realcalc
-battery indicator
-convert me
-ebuddy
-barcode scanner
-astro file manager

What's the difference?

I'm just starting to play with my Vibrant and am a little bit overwhelmed by everything.

Yeah I know.. foolish of me. Time to spend hours fixing this up then selling it a desperate fanboy who will want one even without a battery cover

When a software guy decides it's time to re-write the basecode from scratch, you know he's a hardcore supernerd.

That was the selling point for me.
Bought LauncherPro Plus after that.

BTW, my "Fancy Widget" doesn't seem to display the weather, anybody got some other options?

Gh0stRider 10-04-2010 06:58 PM

^^ beautiful widgets
