This would defeat the purpose of you learning code but if you ever get into a jam, you should check out App Inventor by Google!

you'll have to play around different roms and see which gives you better battery life.

i always seem to dial when i am looking through my contacts or history and when it starts to dial by accident, i would panic and press the HOME button instead of the END CALL on the screen. Of course, after you press the HOME button it takes a while before you can bring up the call screen and hang up.

so any ideas?

u can pull down the notification menu and there will b options for the call, including hang up.

Protip:
Don't don't drink and browse through your ex's profile.
If you can't bring yourself to delete her contact, the least you could do is remove her photo.

It's like the doctor says, don't mix meds with alcohol.
Cause she's baaaad medicine.

Hahahahaha, all puns aside,
Back to reality, I think i've got the opposite problem as you do.
I've had a couple dropped calls and I think it's cause my cheek keeps brushing the end-call button.
Why's it soooo freaking big?!?!?!

Is anyone else having problems with there Galaxy? Mine keeps shutting itself off and to get it powered back up you have too either re&re the battery or hold the power button, volume down and home button. It is fairly laggy as well. I'm currently running the updated firmware via Kies but other then that i have not done much of anything with the phone. This is my first smart phone other then using my girlfriends Iphone 3GS so i don't really know anything about rooting/phone software etc. The phone has great potential but as it currently is I'm debating selling it and buying a Iphone 4 as I just want a phone that works properly and doesn't require me to spend hours and hours trying to fix. Is there any where I can take my phone to get someone to root it/get rid of all the garbage software and maybe put 2.2 on it?

Oleophobic 10-08-2010 07:01 PM

wtf so I just realized the stock browser cannot view gifs, and neither does xscope and skyfire.

coming from an iphone i'm quite disappointed. I already miss safari.
anyone know how to make it so that gifs are viewable in the browser?

i dont think thats the software. Mine is factor 2.1 and it doesnt do that. Could be defective, take it back and get it exchanged.

well, just picked up an iPhone 4 today - reselling it though for a bit of profit on CL. Hopefully it sells before the galaxy's release...

Argh! I want this phone now! Still no release date by rogers?

Also coding android is just Java. Just need to figure out what calls it makes to the actual OS and then you should be good to go. Still think it's kind of weird google chose java out of all languages to code their OS in. :troll:

Culverin 10-08-2010 10:53 PM

Have you guys actually physically walked into a Rogers store and talked to the reps?

There's one right by my work and since the Captivate was announced, I've gone in an chatted up the same rep and asked him to start up a waiting list for the phone.

I checked up with him yesterday, there's only 1 other name on that waitlist besides mine. I was really surprised.

Anyways, he says launch day is 22nd.

Let's see if corporate screws this up further

It's not weird ... considering Google practically is THE internet and Java is the internets bitch.

Hey guys I just picked up a Galaxy S (T-mobile version). It's unlocked, but if I ever upgrade to 2.2 (if it ever comes out :()... will it take away the unlock?

hirevtuner 10-11-2010 05:37 PM

this might answer your question http://forum.xda-developers.com/

well, i have the captivate and when i didn't upgrade to 2.2, it asked me to input the unlock code again, after upgraded to 2.2 froyo, it didn't ask for unlock code again

Oleophobic 10-11-2010 09:07 PM

shit just figured out how to put ringtones on the phone without it appearing in the music player.

\sdcard\media\audio\ringtones
and
\sdcard\media\audio\notifications

and just rename those mp3 files you put in there to .wav and it won't appear in the music player but still appears in your ringtones settings

CP.AR 10-12-2010 12:14 PM

^ TY!!!

I've been looking around for that

SumAznGuy 10-13-2010 01:58 PM

Anyone got any good apps for free video calling? My co-workers are all using facetime and now I feel left out. =(

OriginalJC 10-13-2010 02:08 PM

Fring works well. Can vid chat with ppl on iphones too.

Preemo 10-13-2010 11:11 PM

Hell no. Tango. Hands down best video calling app that works cross platform with iPhone and Android devices. They are working on a new update for this weekend where it will allow you to use the front facing camera on some Android phones. Best thing about it? Pretty darn good quality over 3G/WiFi and no account creation.

jeff19 10-13-2010 11:50 PM

^+1 tango is the shit, atho i cant seem to access the front facing camera with my vibrant :S. even with fring, cant use the front camera.....

This may seem like a dumb question, but I installed Tango and have tried it a few times. Will Rogers charge me to use this video calling or does it use my data?

Whats with rogers delaying?.,,Are they trying to fix the GPS signal issue and the "lag" issue ( saw the "lag fix" on Xda and youtube). Supposedly to have a quadrant test in the 1900-2200 range.
