I only got to play with the iphone 4 for a short time though, and most of that was spent killing its reception by touching the corner :troll:

are you able to kill it in hk? i notice hk have some reception death spot

Yup it dies just like the videos on youtube. Some claim that it doesn't, but I saw it with my own eyes so... Trust a non fanboy over a fanboy :lol

Thanks!

As darthchilli stated the big 3 are all getting the galaxy S, if however you do not want to wait for it then as long as the galaxy s you're buying has 850/1900 then it will run on telus.

I picked up an iphone4 on launch day and just picked up my Galaxy S Vibrant at Futureshop (you also get a $50 giftcard if you sign a 3yr plan there).

Initial impressions:
As mentioned in earlier posts, you can tell the iphone4's screen is definitely sharper than the Vibrant, but the Vibrant's colors are much more...well...vibrant.

The iphone4 definitely feels solid in the hand. But it's a bit heavier than my liking. There's mention of a plasticky feel to the Vibrant, but I don't find that an issue. The phone feels solid enough.

My gut feeling right now is that I'm going to sell my iphone4 and keep the vibrant.

Simplex123 08-04-2010 08:50 PM

^ umm the vibrant isn't even out here in Canada yet.. how the hell did you get it at FS?
are you sure you didn't get this Galaxy: http://www.bell.ca/shopping/en_CA_ON.../69236.details

Mz3X 08-05-2010 05:56 AM

^ I can understand your skepticism. If you follow this phone on other forums, you'll know that the big retailers already have their shipments ready for the friday launch. I didn't expect to get one so early, but when I went to FS and saw the box behind the counter, the guy said he could sell it to me.

I've been following the galaxy s vibrant for 6 months and I can tell the difference galaxy between a galaxy S Vibrant. It actually says Galaxy S Vibrant on the box...would you believe that?

If you're interested in this phone, I'd recommend checking out the Futureshop on Robson for yourself. They had 3 phones left (after my friend and I purchased 1). Wireless wave in pacific centre also has a demo one if you ask the guy behind the counter.

^^

the Galaxy S and the Vibrant are 2 seperate phones... you said it yourself that you been following it, but you failed to realize this point?

i know they are the same phones but the Galaxy S works only on Robellus and the Vibrant works on Wind...

i just checked your link.. lol.. why does bell write it as Galaxy S Vibrant?? are they retarded?
http://cdn.slashgear.com/wp-content/...39-540x438.jpg
EVERYWHERE else they call it Galaxy S... not Galaxy S Vibrant!

hongy 08-05-2010 11:32 AM

^^
The vibrant is a variant of the galaxy S, and yes I to find it kind of weird that bell has the vibrant so I was a little skeptical when I first posted that link (back a page) but then I found the same page from bell's website so I guess it's true.

Mz3X 08-05-2010 12:08 PM

@FerrariEnzo: Bell can call it whatever they want but the basic specs of the variants are still the same. Nothing to get worked up over. It is what it is...just stating the facts.

Mz3X 08-05-2010 12:12 PM

The box you get from bell is the one in your picture, but it says Galaxy S Vibrant.

Vibrant comes out tomorrow with Bell. Rogers is getting the Captivate version? http://mobile.engadget.com/2010/08/0...o-rogers-soon/

CP.AR 08-05-2010 12:40 PM

yes, rogers should be getting the Captivate as it runs on the AT&T band

Simplex123 08-05-2010 01:46 PM

Yes, Bell's Vibrant is coming out tomorrow.
But damn, the Captivate doesn't look as good as the Vibrant, and I saw on Engadget that the Vibrant is better than the Captivate in terms of screen and other parts

CP.AR 08-05-2010 02:04 PM

^what I thought they were the same.... just packaged up differently in terms of aesthetics

hongy 08-05-2010 04:03 PM

One of the galaxy S variants in the states got switched to non superamoled screen, something about shortage of screens.

Graeme S 08-05-2010 05:29 PM

according to GSM Arena, the Vibrant has FM Radio, comes with a 2gig SD and a documents editor--something the Captivate lacks.

I really don't want to get fucked out of usefulness for my new phone. Sigh. So damned many choices!

Could you move over a bit? Cause I'm in the same boat as you.

I'm not too concerned if the Captivate doesn't have the FM radio or doc editor. The only station I listen to when I don't have access to an actual stereo is The Fox, and you can get it through the Corus app. Oh, and if I want to edit documents, I'll just pull out my laptop and use that.

One good thing I've read about the Captivate is that it apparently seems to have better materials for the case, which is something I was concerned about with the Vibrant. I actually think the Captivate looks better than the Vibrant as well. The Vibrant just seems to look too much like an iPhone.

All in all, I think I'll stick with my malfunctioning SE K850 until Rogers comes out with the Captivate instead of going the iPhone4 route.

LiquidTurbo 08-05-2010 08:11 PM

Anyone going to be lining up for this phone tmr?? haha

Yeah the Captivate supposed to have a large metal battery door as well as faux CF weave. I like the look of this one better than the Vibrant as well.

hongy 08-06-2010 09:40 AM

Holy fuck it's only $500 without contract.
It's $149 with 3 year min 50$ plan and then $349, $459 and finally $499.

Culverin 08-06-2010 04:29 PM

I'm definitely getting the captivate.
Just need rogers to announce it.
