dont you have your media on a sd card?

contacts should be sync'd with google

apps you will have to re-install.

i dont think my media is on the sd card... it's too small.

wasnt there an ap where it makes a list of your aps so you can reinstall everything easily?

can Kies sync everything?

Oleophobic 10-30-2010 09:07 PM

just found an app to replace youtube when you want to stream a vid in 720p

JetVD (free in the market)

works AWESOME
too bad it doesn't have youtube's UI. Other than that you can download or stream 720p youtube vids.

www.appbrain.com keeps track of your apps. i think it helps you reinstall apps, i can't remember.

CP.AR 10-31-2010 12:26 AM

appbrain is awesome - you can set it up so that you can browse the app market on your computer, then when you click "install", it automatically does it on the phone (no USB connection needed! just a data/wifi signal)

damn 2.2 is out already? still said no update when i try to upgrade the firmware thru kies. By the way, anyone know a free software that can covert mkv to mp4. Want to put some movies in here to test it out.

Hey guys, so if I'm looking at jumping into android (not rushed though).

What would be the best option currently, and say, within the next month or two?

I'm leaning towards the Samsung Vibrant?

Depends on whats your main purpose.
I still think the NEXUS ONE is better due to the fact that its got so much more in terms of customization

Preemo 10-31-2010 04:24 PM

Samsung's Nexus Two looks like a sure winner.

OCLF?

because i noticed the OCLF starts to lag after a day or so
quadrant scores don't really mean much

im on doc's v6 rom right now and my quadrant scores are in the 1500s yet it's way way smoother than any lagfix I've tried in the past

striderblade 11-02-2010 07:15 AM

Got a noob question here. Does the GPS function in this phone or any other smart phones out there require data access?

!MiKrofT 11-02-2010 10:17 AM

GPS Depends on the app. If you're using something like google navigate yes it uses data. Otherwise it should read maps off the phone.

CP.AR 11-02-2010 10:21 AM

The actual "lockon" of satellites is done via an on board GPS receiver.

Just make sure you turn off "use mobile networks" in the "location" settings menu

CP.AR 11-03-2010 08:11 AM

NO idea. but it was definately 2.2

The first thing that struck me was the <<< Sweep Screen to Unlock >>> (complete with arrows)...

Then all the icons in the settings were coloured. So after that I went to check the system information, and found out that it was 2.2

This was Lansdowne Future Shop btw

So out of the two Galaxy phones out there, which of them do you guys prefer? I've only seen the Vibrant in person and it feels VERY cheap. To the point that if I put it in my pocket if I sit the wrong way it feels like it's going to break in half. How are the Captivate reviews? Seems like it's a bit smaller (for fitting in a pocket) and is a bit sturdier? Can I get some insight? I just got an Iphone4 32 gig this morning with Bell and already have it up for sale so I can buy an android phone (bell didn't have anyone I liked).

CP.AR 11-04-2010 10:00 AM

I got the T-mobile Vibrant, which is identical to the Bell one sans the big home button...
It's light, it's plasticky. But once I got a case for it, it feels pretty solid and durable.

The captivate though, I believe the battery cover is made with metal rather than plastic - so that might contribute to it feeling more solid

I personally, love Captivate more than Vibrant.
It looks more solid.
