EASIEST phone to root to date!

So i was looking up some info, basically desire and nexus one are identical other than the physical differences of the phone and the UI on the desire.

However, you mentioned cyanogen and I looked into it, basically if cyanogen is available for both phones, it makes the UI the same. Now the difficult part is finding a desire but nexus one won't be as difficult as someone on RS is already selling one.

Don't you have a nexus one too bud?

I haz nexusone but I rooted everything I can get my handz on

Also the Desire now has S-Off. This means full root exactly the same as Nexus one.

+1 for HTC_IME

illicitstylz 11-08-2010 12:28 PM

The nexus one is more physically appealing though.

Both can 720p record?

Both can do 720p recording

illicitstylz 11-08-2010 01:27 PM

How about the i9000? It's newer than the nexus one and desire. Same specs other than the larger internal memory.

What's your take on that?

Sorry for all the questioons, I owe ya darth lol

Edit' nvm, i9000 is vibrant/captivate

The 2.2 is stable for both, but there are more devs for the vibrant as its the international version.

But I hear there is a stock froyo for vibrant

I'll keep it simple and stick with nexus one, looks better anyways.

Plus I'm sure there's a reason why you chose the nexus one too ahha.

Edit: fuck I'm so indecisive lol thinking about the vibrant too now since you mentioned there's more devs for it.

does 2.2 froyo play youtube in 720P or still the "HQ" quality?

CP.AR 11-08-2010 02:32 PM

^ HQ

!MiKrofT 11-08-2010 05:12 PM

There's supposedly a youtube HD app floating around ripped from 4G android phones.

BTW... does Rogers even HAVE a 3.5G network? After flashing the rom I'm getting an "H" (for HSDPA) rather than 3G on my status bar... data does seem to be faster too... so it isn't a glitch

im so tempted, my phone is freezing up alot nowdays, dont know why didnt do anything different to it. Still unrooted.

One of my students has a KDM galaxy S running what I assume is froyo as she has the 'slide either way'. Three cheers for korea, I guess.

striderblade 11-08-2010 07:50 PM

you'll be happier with the nexus one. despite not having as good/big a screen as the galaxy s, the software support for it is much, MUCH better. software > hardware

Which variation of Galaxy S are you using?

For my T-mo one i'm using the Obsidian V2 2.2, which is actually based off of the T-mobile 2.2 that was leaked several days ago.

Super smooth

same, i have the tmobile version.

Do you need to root for it?

J____ 11-09-2010 04:29 PM

anyone else have the tmobile vibrant on wind? i followed the instructions online to set it up for wind (but didnt really need to change aynthing as it was already the same) and got wind home. But these past few days the phone would show reception but it would show searching for network and i cannot make any calls and only wind away would show up on network list. I switch the sim back into the pos Huawei and it would get wind home instantly. anyone have this issue?

Does anyone elses music skip occasionally when listening to the music player through headphones? It happened quite a bit to me yesterday
Posted via RS Mobile

!MiKrofT 11-09-2010 08:43 PM

I remember 2.1 android phones had that. 2.2 should fix that.

striderblade 11-09-2010 10:05 PM

Yeah my music skip a bit as well. At first i thought it was my Dre tour headphone but when I switch it to my itouch. It was OK. Hope there is a fix for this

I had that for a little while when I used the Macnut R10 rom (ended up flashing obsidian since Macnut GPS dosen't work for me).

It's nice to look at, but i constantly worried about my battery dying because I could see the percentages drop
