get juice defender from the market. and dont have your phone auto update fb/twitter/etc so often. when i first got my vibrant i put everything to the max and got like 5 hours of battery life on moderate use.

Well it all depends on how you use it as well.

Well, my phone soft bricked on me today after 2 months of usage. Non-lag fix, non-flashed, non-rooted. Thank goodness for the 3 button recovery. Lost all my apps though (but contacts and sms still stayed). I shat bricks today.

striderblade 12-26-2010 06:32 PM

^ is a sign that telling you your phone will die in a couple of week or even days. Happened to me as well.

Gnomes 12-26-2010 06:40 PM

^ are you serious?! fuuuuuuuu...... I just finished re-installing my apps and widgets too. Took me half the day.

Gnomes 12-26-2010 08:23 PM

titanium requires rooting, does it not?

striderblade 12-26-2010 11:02 PM

yea man.. i got the soft brick issue happen every fucking 4 days or week. so i have to reinstall shit over and over. Finally i just gave up and say fuck it and use it without any apps. Think a week later the phone turn off by itself and would not boot up. Tried recovery mode and got a red msg saying E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1. Once in a while it will boot up after like restarting the phone over and over again, however it will not detect my external and internal storage. So i can't save anything. Checked online and most people who had this issue said is related to the faulty internal memory or the mainboard. Bought it back to bell and the guy decided to restart the phone and low and behold nothing but black screen. So my phone got sended in for repair. I Hope they replace the faulty chip or mainboard so i don't have to deal with this ticking time bomb ever again. Once again the phone is nice and shit, but if i have to deal with shit like this every week. No fucking way i'm keeping it.

pgmatt 12-27-2010 09:50 AM

I'm going to collect the insurance on mine and sell the replacement as these phones just have to many issues. Too bad its a great phone if it worked.

Just bought this phone today. Pretty impressed with it.

Is it possible to get free apps like the iphone? and is 2.2 out yet for the rogers one?

filth 12-28-2010 09:15 PM

Also im having trouble transferring media files to it. Do I need to download a transfer program to transfer through "Media Player" ? When i select "Mass Storage" and go into "My Computer" on my desktop theres an "F" and "G" removable disk but neither of them work....

TIA

Gnomes 12-29-2010 05:27 AM

^The next step is to drag down the menu on your phone and click on the usb line and click "mount". After that, you should be able to use your phone as mass storage.

filth 12-29-2010 10:28 AM

thanks. Kies has to be the worst thing ever.

ForbiddenX 12-29-2010 10:59 AM

QFT

Tried fixing my brother in laws SGS and it was hopeless. Internal was not responding to any pushed files from ADB. He just sent his out today and hopefully he'll get a new unit. His was stock and unrooted as well.

It seems to be hit and miss and it looks like I have been one of the lucky ones to have a perfectly good unit. Knock on wood!

What kind of protection are you guys using on your phones? Thinking of getting a screen protector but not really sure if I'll need it. A matte one to be exact.

Also anyone care to post pics of their galaxy s :$ kind of interested as to how everyone's looks.

J____ 12-30-2010 01:38 AM

what kind of locks were you getting before you did the hardware fix?My GPS locks, but is at times inaccurate + takes quite a long time to get initial lock. I just want to know if I'll be seeing a significant change before I pry open my phone

Not really needed for this phone. I've tried many screen protectors and they all blow. Bare screen is best! It is Gorilla Glass BTW.

However I do use the Barely There case from Casemate. Couldn't find it anywhere so I bought it directly from them. Best case hands down!!!
