Even though it's gorilla glass it's not indestructable. It can be scratched and sometimes surprisingly easily. |

The best case thats also super cheap is the MOMAX case from NCIX its like $8.99 when its on sale and also comes with a screen protector. its a tight fit gel outter rim and and the back plate is hard plastic. otterbox has a commuter case coming out and Casemate has a pretty rugged case too. I just updated to JL2 Froyo, no root and no lagfix scored 1100 on quadrant. pretty lame when it scored 2400 on 2.1 with lag fix. but on the plus side it has better ram management and can free up enough ram so that only 140mb is being used by the system. Kinda blows I had to do a factory reset in order to get kies not to give that weird insufficient battery error loop. |
Phone came today! Rogers ships really fast. Thought it'd come next week due to the holidays and all that. I've been using a BB for most of my mobile stuff but how does a Galaxy S compare to data usage? Should I be worried about going over 500mb? I'll mostly be on revscene and some other sites don't plan on really streaming. |

the sales guy said for 500mb, you can browse 4000 sites. If your just browsing, your okay. I'm at 10.6mb right now, that's cause i downloaded apps. But when your home, just hook up to your wifi and its unlimited:fuckyea: |
ok sweet I should be good to go then. Also, anyone run into the problem where when someone texts them its at an earlier time? I'm texting and the one's I'm receiving are being shown as like 7am. Kind of annoying how I have to scroll all the way up to read texts. |

I don't have this problem though |
i only browsed websites linked from the Genie widget, I have 8 custom search topics. and the occasional GPS NAV, Facebook, tapatalk and I only used 200mb one month. I had to stream quite a bit of video on youtube to break the 800mb mark. |

After the JL2 firmware upgrade. I noticed that the battery life has improved significantly. I left the phone on from 100% over night with bluetooth and sync still on and 10hrs later it was still at 89%. A huge difference compared to the stock eclair build that would be down to 35% in the same time. |
Yea after using it for a couple days, the battery life isn't all that great. I haven't been unplugged that long as I'm only usually out at night now but when schools back I'll see how it does. But I am enjoying the phone a lot more than my blackberry. Don't really miss BBM that much either. Also, what kind of apps are you guys using and would recommend? I'm still sifting through them but I've found a few. Mostly tweaking my UI and stuff right now and will eventually look for other apps in a bit. LauncherPro Plus and Beautiful widgets are amazing! |
download whatsapp. Does anyone how to upgrade to the new firmware and not loose all my apps? Mine is the rogers version. I also dont want it to brick... |
Titanium Backup and save your apps first and then update and then restore it back. Posted via RS Mobile |
my i9000m died today.. bell wont take it back cause I m not a customer nor do I have proof of purchase... Calling Samsung tmr and see if they would honor the warranty... Never buying phone off craighlist again )=<! |
Mine died and Bell gave me a $100 credit to my account a loaner HTC Desire Z and are shipping me a brand new phone. I will admit they stepped up to deal with the problem so I take back any bad things i said about them. Bobola Samsung supposedly is replacing dead Galaxy's if you deal with them direct. Good luck. Waiting for my new one to sell. |
I just did the hardware fix to my T-mo Vibrant. I even went to the length of rolling up a really small piece of business card paper and fitted it under the contact to prop it up. It locked, indoors in about 15 seconds with gps alone (use Wireless Network, use Sensors are unchecked in settings) A pretty substantial improvement to the 5+ minutes it took last night at around the same time without the fix. Running Team Whiskey's Nero V3 JL5 w/o voodoo. |
BTW, Froyo is now out. Using it, a little snappier. Best parts are upgrades to the core google apps, voice search gmail etc... You'll get Samsung Deskhome and Car app now. For you Launcher Pro Plus users, you'll need to uninstall and update your home switcher version to a dedicated froyo version. Grab Kies here: http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/de...%28SGH-i896%29 |
Kies is the crappiest piece of software I've ever seen. |

as for the fix, my phone didnt seem to lock any faster, but it's getting a slighting stronger signal on the gps now. Still takes around 3 mins for first lock after data wipe + approx 5-10 secs after. I'm also on V3 JL5 using gps only without wireless. |
