You edit documents when you're partying? Jesus, you must be the life of the party.

I just want it so I can check out my schedule when I'm oot and aboot; I can't always keep track of when work is keeping me pinned down.

And why would I need to suddenly edit a Word document or Excel spreadsheet while I'm shopping or partying? And I have an actual work computer for, you know... doing work stuff.

I'm pretty sure you took my comment a little too literally...

Need an office suite for your Android? Here you go, $15 (or "free" if you look for it :troll: )

I've lived with my Motorola SLVR L7 for 4 years now.

I think it's time to upgrade.
I'm still on Rogers, and hesitant to switch to Wind.

They are getting the Captivate mid september right?

Please provide any input on what I should be considering?
Accessories, Android, lack of flash, Only a 5mp camera.

I wish it was unlockable right now haha. In vegas right now and could just grab a samsung captivate from Fry's.

I thought the captivate was already unlockable?

How much are they charging for it?

!MiKrofT 08-07-2010 06:09 PM

$479 off contract from at&t. Held the sample in my hands. Feels pretty good with the metal faux cf battery cover. I couldn't find an imei unlock code online anywhere unless you can show me a place that does it.

iPhone 4 VS Galaxy S

After comparing the desire (3.7 inch screen) to the galaxy (4.0 inch screen) I find that .3 really does matter. 4.0 inch just seems to uncomfortable to use.

Strzelec 08-07-2010 09:27 PM

I looked at the Galaxy today, seemed like an impressive device. Screen looked great, pretty fast, but in my opinion, the phone just didnt feel solid. It didnt feel cheap, but it lacked that heaviness that makes it feel real solid.

OriginalJC 08-08-2010 03:47 PM

Played with the Vibrant at a Bell store today. Definitely like it, and will be grabbing the captivate when it comes out instead of an iPhone 4.

Can't wait to be free of the iTunes shackles.

TOS'd 08-08-2010 10:07 PM

^ same! but im so out of the droid loop. im not sure what can/needs to be done with the phone in stock form.

Euro7r 08-08-2010 10:13 PM

If I had the money, I'd buy the Galaxy S. I've played around with my friends HTC running on Android and I actually like the Android OS. I'm currently using the Omnia 2 and this thing lags like a bitch because it's windows mobile OS haha.

SkinnyPupp 08-08-2010 10:31 PM

The Omnia II lag can be significantly helped by installing a barebones custom ROM, and using SBP Mobile Shell in place of its UI. Mobile Shell is right up there with Android 2 and iPhone 3 IMO.

Samsung always makes fantastic hardware (I miss the Omnia II camera :() but shit software (which can luckily be replaced)

I'm going to check the Galaxy S and see if it's worth switching from the Desire :D

How do I even install a custom rom? I know you posted a O2 custom rom thread before, but I never really understood it.

SkinnyPupp 08-09-2010 04:18 AM

It's really quite easy, there are easy instructions to follow.

My rom is by this guy (that's his latest release).. He removes all the software, including the useless Samsung crap and the software you'll actually want. But he uloads CAB file for everything, so you can just install it yourself later (better yet, you can install it to external memory)

Note that these roms are for the GSM version only. If you bought yours from a Canadian carrier, these won't work. You might have to use a Verizon rom instead (not sure, so check)

Meowjin 08-09-2010 02:27 PM

wait so this phone is going to have flash support? goodbye bbm.

CP.AR 08-09-2010 02:50 PM

Android 2.2 has built in Flash 10.1

Seems like there are no unlock solutions to this phone atm. Guess im sticking with my n1 :D

Komrad 08-09-2010 03:39 PM

I'm not really an android guy, but i've used this thing... its big! It has an amazing screen and its fast, but I'm more attached to blackberry, so my opinion is very biased.

Graeme S 08-09-2010 04:09 PM

I've been attached to my berry for quite some time. Jesus christ this thing is glorious. Tried it out at costco today; I dunno how small your guys' hands are but it slid perfectly into my hands. It's an absolute beauty, smooth UI and with flash support I am overhwelmed by how filled with awesome it is.

Once there's an unlock, and/or when Rogers gets theirs...I am so in.

On GSMarea, they say the Galaxy2 uses Android 2.1 as their OS?

Graeme S 08-09-2010 04:34 PM

Froyo update within the next month, IIRC. Java Lite installed on the phone I believe.
