No dice with OTA lol

What roms are you guys using? Want to stick to a stock one so that would mean my only upgrade choice is Froyo right? Sorry, noob at android haha

Hey have stock roms but not from rogers. Try to use one with a version that has kf1 in the build. Its the latest and greatest 2.3.4 gingerbread rom.

Damn there's too many roms over on XDA lol can't pick one! The Galaxy S I got is actually from Bell (i9000m)

Edit: Can't even get into download mode or recovery mode fml

Quick update for those who have the Rogers Samsung Galaxy S Captivate… we’re getting reports that the Android upgrade to OS 2.3 Gingerbread is starting to roll out and is finally available to download via Kies

Anyone use Juice Defender on their Captivate? Started using it today, and a few SMS msgs were not received. Weird!

:suspicious: Two things: 1st, WTF? there is no gingerbread out from rogers yet? 2nd, why would you not root your phone

So I picked up a Tmobile Vibrant (different than the Bell Vibrant) down south and it's still running 2.1 Eclair. Cyanogen 7.1 is out and supported by my Vibrant...but I went to the wiki and looked at the instructions and got scared shitless by the wall of text and instructions that were presented. Does anyone with experience with this phone have any ideas or suggestions on what I should start doing in order to conquer my fears and get a version of Android that sucks less and can use the full awesomeness of Gingerbread?

Sorry to bump this thread, but something went wrong when I tried to root my i9000m.
First, my phone is a Bell i9000m running on Gingerbread 2.3.3 UGKG3
I upgraded to a Note 2 and rooted that phone via Odin 1.85 and I was able to do it in under 1 minute. Yes I need more practice.

Well, after seeing how easy it was, I was expecting something similar. Read up on some thread from someone looking to root their i9000 and the link was for an i9100 KG3 which they said was the same.

When I went through the process, Odin said it failed and now when I turn on the phone, I get the phone/yellow triangle with exclamation mark/computer logo.

I did more googling and now I am even more confused and some of the links are from 2011 or older and am getting no where.

Anyone know what I did wrong and any idea to point me to the right direction?

Never mind. I reisntalled the factory firmware.
