i concur

Meowjin 08-11-2010 02:29 AM

so this phone will support flash? If so can i use it on rogers/wind?

SkinnyPupp 08-11-2010 03:29 AM

That Super AMOLED screen is fucking amazing, especially if you like to use a lot of blacks. Way better than iphone 4's screen, IMO. The iphone 4 is sharp, but doesn't have the contrast and saturation of the Super AMOLED.

The Galaxy S line we care about is pretty much 2 phones.

Rogers = Captivate
Rumors say mid september

Bell = Vibrant
Already out.

Wind = Vibrant
No rumors thus far, go get it from tmobile.

There are no unlock solutions for either of those models unless you get it from the UK.

Yeah everyone says that 2.2 is coming to the Galaxy so no need to worry.

Has anyone had the reception/GPS/Lag issues I keep hearing about?

MarkyMark 08-11-2010 05:08 PM

Played with this phone at bell for a bit. The screen is really nice, if I were to get a new phone right now it would probably be this

Not at the moment. I've heard of ppl using turbosim like devices but no unlock code is available yet.

*edit* I stand corrected looks like they now have unlock codes on ebay for $30. tmobile version only

LiquidTurbo 08-12-2010 08:14 PM

Good review.

Unlock code available on ebay

Gnomes 08-13-2010 06:34 PM

I wonder if JP Cellular Repair can hardwire unlock it

You mean hardware unlock?

!MiKrofT 08-13-2010 09:17 PM

There's no hardware unlock available. Ebaying the code is your best bet now unless you can get the provider to provide you with the unlock code.

*edit* Spoke too soon. Ebay guy pulled his listings for US carriers. This means sim piggyback is the only way we can use these for now.

I just looked into that myself. Reception is relative. Most of it was dependent on user location and carrier.

Samsung is to release a patch that will fix the GPS issue.

Lag issue is what really caught my eye but has been "fixed" with a rooted Android phone using a simple fix.

I just closed my window from a random Google search for my sources. I'll post it if I can find it.

Cool. I'm personally waiting for the captivate version as I like the design of that one a lot more than the others. I've got an HTC Desire on the way and I'll decide if I want to switch when Rogers releases their version.

CP.AR 08-15-2010 01:47 PM

It's official now, Captivate is on Rogers
