^ I overheard someone using their hardware upgrade to get an iPhone 4 ... if they can manage to find one, sell it, buy the Captivate outright and still make some money.

Either or, I can't wait for this phone anymore!!!!

If you have Gmail, it is literally instant. I don't use anything other than gmail anymore, even for all my sites, so I can't comment on imap or exchange or whatever other outdated methods people use

Took a good look at the Galaxy S and still going to get an iPhone 4.

The main dealbreaker for me is that all our cars have iPod docks built in to connect to the factory stereo, and a big part of my phone is also using it as my main portable audio player.

Using a mini headphone jack as your line-in source to your head unit is a joke, IMO. If you have equalizer settings on your phone, you have to turn them off when using in your car to get it to sound good. You have to play with the volume on your phone/head unit to get the best compromise in sound quality/levels. And you have to play with your phone to select songs/playlists instead of using your head unit to do this. And when it's all said and done, you still have a headphone amplifier circuit feeding your stereo its audio signal, not the best solution.

Aside from the App Store, to me one of the biggest advantages to the iPhone is the wide support for Apple's dock connector. Factory car stereos, aftermarket head units, home stereos - there are a lot of different products that your iProduct can simply plug into and work with right away.

Now if the Android phone manufacturers could agree on a standard dock connector, then they'd really have an amazing product. They agree to run Android, why not agree on a dock?

Car manufacturers should just allow Bluetooth connection for audio. Then it wouldn't matter what phone/player you have - if it has stereo BT, it will work.

on the other hand, Rogers now has an official page for the Galaxy S Captivate... release date still hasn't released but I can smell a release coming soon.

All the cars I rented recently on my many trips to Vegas can play music either via USB or Bluetooth. I opted to use the USB cable because the car just reads the MP3's off the phone instead of having to open up an audio player on the phone. That and it also charges the phone...

Yeah, I just go for USB as well (as my aftermarket HU supports it), which is great as I have a choice to use a crappy USB thumb drive to carry all the music or I could connect it to the phone.

Full price with no plan or pay-as-you-go, but bell retail outlets are unlikely to sell it to you like so as their comission is based on plans, not phones.

Varying levels of discount are for voice-only plans.

Full discount would apply to a 3-year voice-and-data (they call it a "premium" plan) or voice plus data plan. To get the $150 price you need to sign a new contract with voice and data.

There is a unlock method that is supposed to work on ALL iterations of the Samsung Galaxy S. You actually find the unlock code yourself on the device. Anyways, you can find the unlock method via the XDA Developers forums. I would post the direct thread but their forums are down at the moment. Also, users have CONFIRMED the unlock works on the Bell version of the Galaxy!!

Yeah, even though what he is offering may be legit, just the site alone screams shady.

Awesome. Free Unlock. Just need to root the phone first.

Copied the following from AndroidForums:

You must be rooted Here's how to grab your unlock code off your own phone, for free!

Connect your phone via USB and open an adb shell (you need the SDK installed)

My SDK is installed in CAndroid

cd candroid\tools
adb shell
Now that you're in shell type in the following

su
dd if=/dev/block/bml3 of=/sdcard/bml3.bak
Mount your SD card on your computer and open bml3.bak in a hex editor. Search for the string SSNV (it's in caps). You'll see something like this

SSNV.±Ì.ž.Ì.å....`Få•1Š>...OÊÄÏñ..ý“œÌ5..ÇõÎ_.coõã Ò@×`^ãQ.ÚR=€[¥×‡ùáâß-P.5370859753708597.51531930.00000000100100101#3101 503101703111803104103109809 9999#
In my case, the 51531930 is the unlock code! So basically, it's the second set of numbers (separated by periods).

Pop in a foreign SIM and it'll ask you for an unlock code. Punch this baby in and you're unlocked!
