The ability to play DivX plus the screen is what got me sold. I too am wondering about the battery (especially when playing videos and games non-stop)

Anyways, I unlocked a few Galaxy's but I cannot get the right APN settings to work with Rogers. Both phones were from Bell. Anyone unlock and get the right APN settings to work with the S on Rogers?

i've used 2 different apn's and both work this is the one that was from my liquid e.

I want this phone but I'm probably going to hold off until they fix the GPS issue. Samsung isn't known for speed when it comes to fixing issues. I know first hand from the Epix debacle. They released an update that messed up the GPS really bad. Kept hearing promises of a fix next month, etc... Over a year went by before they issued a new ROM with WinMo6.5 that fixed the issue but it was too late by then and I had already moved to the Milestone. I mainly use my Epix now for gps logging and geotagging because once it's working, the GPS is fast and accurate even without the aGPS function.

This just fixes the AGPS slow acquisition time issue. It doesn't correct the underlying problem where the GPS fix isn't accurate or stable.

Ive been using mine nonstop, browsing web and playing games since 9am and I'm down to 70%. super-amoled is supposed to use significantly less battery than regular amoleds. Using backgrounds with black colors will also utilize almost no battery at all as the technolgy displays true black.

Saw over on XDA. The new JM6 ROM for the I9000 apparently has many fixes and speed improvements. GPS is working better. Users have already flashed it on Captivates

Can I make a request that as you guys do your homework and find good cases and accessories for this phone, that you would be so kind as to post it here?

I'm having a lot of trouble finding a GOOD case for this phone. Something that just isn't a 10-15 dollar ebay knockoff.

thank you!

Do you have tons of friends who bring their vibrant over to you to unlock or something?

SkinnyPupp 08-27-2010 08:09 AM

This will make it even easier ;)

!MiKrofT 08-27-2010 09:56 AM

You'd probably have to get around the sideloading restriction first if you have an AT&T captivate.

Picked up a hard silicon case from crystal mall the otherday. It's the only place that has cases right now. Bell should prolly have their shileds in soon... anyhow u should take a look at the barely there case:

Bought my last few cases from them and they are top notch quality, also super thin and doenst add bulk.

That Barely There case looks pretty damn good. A lot better than the garbage Bell was offering in their store.

After looking at the Vapor bumper by ElementCase for the iPhone4, I was going to make my own one off using a 5-axis CNC mill and cover the SGS in some sort of metal (whatever I can afford) and see what happens until more cases come out.

The internet works but cannot receive MMS?

Hakkaboy 08-27-2010 01:07 PM

eventho i prefer the captivate over the vibrant physically as feels much nicer to hold as it has sharper corners and a metal backing, i put an order in to the Vibrant and will just get a case for the back.

can't wait

I just got the same model case but for my HTC Desire. The quality is awesome but the edges seem a bit sharp. Might file them down a little. Unfortunately I haven't found anything as thin as the Incipio Feather.

I just dont like.how the top and bottom arent protected.

Alright, as the release of the release date for the Captivate approaches...

Does anybody know what I will need to do to get at the front of the waiting list?
I'm with rogers and will be getting the phone via a hardware upgrade, do they generally end up prioritizing us behind new customers?

I'm going to assume there's no point in calling in and asking to be put on the Captivate waiting list?

Is there anything about an extended phone warranty rogers offer?
The piece of mind would be nice.

TOS'd 08-28-2010 08:29 AM

^ is it even necessary to do all that?

MarkyMark 08-28-2010 08:52 AM

It's not an iPhone you'll be able to walk in and get one when it launches no problem

!MiKrofT 08-28-2010 09:02 AM

Yeah there won't be any waiting list or lineup so I don't think you have anything to worry about.
